Well worth the very few flaws
I'm not a big RPG fan. I always find myself bored going from point A to point B to talk to the hermit about the curse and find the gilded truffle so that Princess Vidalia can be cured of blah, blah, blah.

But The Witcher was different for me. It was an immersive, huge, layered game for adults (parents - this is NOT a kids' game!) featuring fun combat, logical skill progression, and an interesting story with some complex, "gray-area" choices to make.

The only cons are:
a) Long load times (and this was reduced from the original, which must have been incredibly long). The Witcher shares that with another RPG that I loved - and that it's similar to in spirit - Deus Ex.
b) Crashes to desktop. YMMV on this one. I experienced a total of five of these during my first play-through. Some have more, some none.

Now, I'm off to to play it again. With the multitude of choices you have to make during gameplay, I'm really curious to see how the story develops this time.

Don't miss this game !
If you've read any bad reviews about this game, not working game crashes etc. Don't worry thats all been fixed in this enhanced edition ! I've had no problems what-so-ever since I started playing. The grafics are great the music is very good and the story will suck you right in. I've been playing rpgs for over 20 years and this is by far the best I've ever seen .The enhanced version includes an aditional 2 add on adventures and a music cd. Plus a beutiful map and game guide. A real bargin!!

the witcher enhanced
Simply put--This is one of the best games for the pc in a long while. Graphics are excellent, attention to detail and gameplay are excellent. Story line is very real and refreshing. This is a mature rated game and I am enjoying every minute of it. One of the few games I can't wait to play when I get home from work and on weekends. This is definitely a must buy. I hope they will consider a witcher 2

Great game
One of the best RPG to come out since Baldur's Gate II. The developers used BioWare's engine, and obviously devoted a lot of time and effort into creating the plot and characters in the game.

This isn't a "run around in a huge but shallow sandbox" like Elder Scrolls, or a point and click your way through a game like Dungeon Siege. But there is a lot of freedom, and side quests, but you're immersed in a world with a lot of different characters and factions, whose relationship with you and each other is always in question. Sometimes you have to go through and read your notes to remember what is going on in the story line.

Another very unique spin on this game, which I find entertaining, is that as the main character, you can try to bed all kinds of hot females(Dryads, Elves, Humans) in this game. And they managed to make a combat system, that wasn't too complicated, yet was more interesting that point and click.

Hours of Adventure!
Based on a Hungarian novel series, The Witcher begins with an intriguing storyline, well-developed characters, bone-gnawing Medieval settings, and subplot after subplot to keep you thoroughly entertained. Due to the complexity of the plot, your interactions with others can determine: 1) who your friends or foes are; 2) how many subplots you want to deal with; and 3) how many hints and secrets you gain (as well as how fast you acquire them). Truly, this is a game based on karma--the enemies you make will come back to haunt you, and the friends you make will also come back to help you. Indeed, after finishing the first time, I went back the second time, then the third time, and have discovered surprises every time. With tons of skills available to develop/acquire, you can blend skills of your swords and magic for fascinating gameplay experiences. (Hint: Get as much Quen Sign as possible before messing with the Kikimore Queen!!!!)
True, the game crashes frequently, and usually this drives me insane. But thanks to easy quicksaves as well as regular auto-saves, don't worry about having to start all over again. Besides, the sheer FUN of the game overwhelms the mild to moderate irritation of the crashes. Can't wait for the sequel (what happened to Alvin???)!
