Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 Review (continued)
More User Submitted Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 Reviews
Date: 2008-10-30 CRASH I bought this based on the reviews have been using about a month. It will freeze the computer and you will have to reboot. Also blue screen. Downloaded the 8.0.454 still having same problems. Filed a report on their site has been four days and no reply. Can't find a phone number for tech support.
Date: 2008-10-28 Easy to Install & Use Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 is easy to install and use. It offers some customization, and does not require that you be an expert to use it. I would have prefered more customization options, especially for the spam filter, but this is a minor disappointment. One especially nice feature is that it tells you when trusted programs may cause security risks because they lack updates, etc. It also responds quickly to malware trying to attach itself to your computer. All 3 of my computers were free of malware when I put this on, so I'm not sure how good it is at detecting and cleaning problems that are already there (although I did use the online free scan on my friend's infected computer and it did locate the malware). So far, it seems to be excellent at safeguarding my computers from unwanted pests. I have already recommended it to my friends.
Date: 2008-10-27 Don't Buy It Please save your money and time. I used Kaspersky Version 7 for a year with no problems, thought I had finally found a security package for me. When it was about to expire, I decided to go for another year and purchase Internet Security 2009 from Amazon (cheaper than Kaspersky site). Imagine my surprise when I spent about 2 days of work time trying to make this right. Installation was filled with errors, which I ignored to continue on. I thought everything was fine and logged off for the night. The next morning my computer started crashing with the blue screen randomly, with the diagnosis pointing to a problem with the anti-virus software. I won't bore you with all the details of the error codes. I tried to do the live chat but was shut down twice. I called Kaspersky support. The 2 guys who helped me there tried and were responsive, no complaints. I had phone support and follow up emails. But I was on a wild goose chase of uninstalling other programs and re-configuring, etc. just to end up with MORE problems. In the end was instructed to do A, B, and C, then uninstall and reinstall Kaspersky. Guess what, back to the initial problem of blue screen crashing after 2 days. I work at home on this computer so I couldn't afford this. I went back to my old Kaspersky, which they told me to do (no problems installing that one), but I was expiring in a couple of days. I tried to get them to give me a code to just activate the older version for a year but they said no codes available. They wouldn't reimburse of course because I purchased through Amazon. I am VERY disappointed. I don't blame the support people but the company for releasing a NEW version that doesn't work with Vista. The least they could do is be able to extend the subscription for the old version. Money out the window. Uninstalled all of it and just have the free AVG antivirus on for now, may go ahead and upgrade to the paid coverage there but I'm a little security package shy right now. I am very disappointed in the company for going downhill in one year. Please note that I'm not the only one with these problems--after the fact I searched and found others (too late), with no resolutions working. Don't waste your money.
Date: 2008-10-27 Installation problem! I had a lot of trouble installing this in my computer (Windows Vista). I needed to uninstall Kaspersky Anti Virus 6.0 first, but I couldn't do it through the ordinary process (Control panel -> Programs -> Uninstall a program.) I searched on the net and found that there were other people having the same problem and that I needed to download a program made specifically to uninstall KAV 6.0. The whole process including searching for and finding the way to solve the problem and uninstalling KAV 6.0 and installing KIS 2009 took me 8 hours and I almost gave up midway through. I liked KAV 6.0, so decided to upgrade it, but didn't expect to have to go through so much trouble installing KIS 2009. I'm not sure if I will want to update it when my license expires a year later.
Date: 2008-10-25 Very Secure Product This is the first time I purchased Kaspersky Internet Security. I previously only used Norton (Symantec) Internet Security products. I did some research this year and decided to go with Kaspersky. I am very pleased with this product. It is the most secure product that I have used. It found spyware and other malicious items that I did not know existed on my PC. My only complaint is that it affects your computer processing speed during a system scan. If you do purchase this product I would advise you to schedule system scans at an hour when you do not need to use your PC. Other than the minor performance impact, I would definitely recommend this product if you desire strong system security.
