Date: 2009-01-01 Worked Great Have used these for several months and have been very happy with them. They definately dampen the sound when hitting the drum pads and I havent noticed any changed in the accuracy by using them. Since the foam extends to the rim of the drum pad, it has actually helped since you hit the foam instead of the hard rim. The adhesive seems to be holding up well. Overall I am very pleased with these.
Date: 2008-12-29 Sacrifices too much for some sound deadening. I had high hopes for these pads but after about a week of trying my hardest to like them, adapt to them, justify them, I cannot.
Sound deadening - Yes. Makes Rock Band 1 drums rebound better - Yes. Makes you have to hit the drums so freakin' hard that playing on hard or expert becomes an endurance test of your wrists - Yes.
If you're really trying to learn how to play the drums or are an actual drummer then I highly recommend staying away.
If you have kids that are really just using the drums on easy/medium and aren't playing seriously, then go for it. I imagine this product will be very helpful for parents that are looking for some quiet while their kids pound away on the drums.
Date: 2008-12-26 best silencers ever for your drums I've bought other drum pads and none had worked as well as these silencers but you have to TAKE OFF THE PLASTIC RIMS OF THE DRUMS !!!!!! these rims will prevent your pads from sticking fully to the whole surface just make sure you don't rip the wires off. I got these since they first came out to put on my RB 1 set. I also velcro the whole set to the floor. Even the foot pedal got the silence treatment by simply attaching a couple pieces of thin felt where the round nobs hit. I just bought a new set of silencers as a gift to someone who like to drum too!!!!
Date: 2008-11-18 Better than expected I have the newer SL RockBand drums and installed these pads by removing the rims as suggested by another reviewer. When looking at the drums from the side now, they look a bit strange because the rims hide some internals, but when you're using the drums they look great. These pads work very well to dampen the sound and I noticed no loss in sensitivity. I can tap lightly on each drum and still register a hit. These pads are well worth the money for the first generation drums.
Date: 2008-11-16 Work as promised I read the reviews which mention potential problems and got them anyway. I was concerned they wouldn't stick well when I first installed. The drums have a raised edge and the pads are essentially just thick stickers. Because of the raised edge on the drum, and the size of the pads extends all the way to the outside edge, there is a small air bubble that goes all the way around the edge. I was worried this would mean the pads would come unglued. But after we've used them for weeks, they've remain glued on just fine and worked well. Using the drums with silencers is a huge improvement. The sound of striking the pad is significantly muffled, which allows you to actually hear the drum sounds coming out of the speakers. The pads look great as well. I recommend you buy these, you'll be happy.
