Best one so far
This game rules all. The graphics are what surprised me so much. Also, like Grand Theft Auto, this game has realistic movements. When you are running, at first, it seems like you are going too slow, and then you realize that it's realistic. This game, just...two thumbs up!!!!

NCAA Football 09
Please bear in my mind that these are only my initial thoughts about the game. I've only had it for two days....

CONS:
1. Would it be that hard to include at least one or two refs on the field during play?? If you can add sidelines, and mascots and cheerleaders, add a ref. I remember using them in madden 97 as an extra blocker, or getting mad that they would help me get tackled.
2. If there is a penalty, please be like "it's in the game". It's nice that you tell me the name of the person the penalty is on, but at least give me his playing number too.
3. I would really like a true squib kick option. If someone knows how to do it with the current kicking scheme, then please comment below this review.
4. While I like the ability to celebrate with the mascot, make some way that you can just bypass, or do like it was in ncaa 2003 or 04 where the celebration was like r1 and either x b a y, and the celebration would vary by what you pressed, not what the computer decided you could do.
5. While its nice that you can add custom sounds, (i've yet to try it out) but the instructions are kinda vague. Bring back the crowd signs too.
6. when I have used challenge on several incarnations of madden and ncaa, I could easily see that I was wrong, or right, and the computer would always make the right decision. There are times I saw that I had wasted my timeout due to the replay, just for the computer to reverse the play for me. The computer did catch the ball, but it over rule itself.
7. While I like the new animations and all, this is specifically for the near the sidelines catch. It looks cool when done right, however, i've had my receiver be fifty yards from the sideline, be wide open, do the toe drag, just to fall down, when he could've ran for a td.
8. Another huge complaint about this game: Please, during the conference championship games and definitely the bowl games, please please please put the teams' designs in the endzones. i know you can do it, b/c it was that way for the OU-Texas game. It had Oklahoma in one endzone, and texas in the other. it looks a lot better than just the bowl game logo and the ncaa logo that are currently there.
9. This is probably my biggest gripe of the game. If there is a game called the Alamo Bowl, and it is still is played in the ALAMODOME, would it hurt to make the damn bowl game INDOORS!!!!!!! they have never got this correct since the 360 and ps3 came out.

Pros:
1. I hear some stuff from time to time, however, it's finally obvious that they had the three guys come in and totally record new dialogue. It is a breath of fresh air to hear something new.
2. I love the ability to bluff your plays. I was wondering how ea would do it. they did it very well.
3. they finally made it easy to put a man in motion. I usually only do it to put another blocker on the way the play is going to go, and it's a lot easier now.
4. I like that they brought back the toughest places to play. You can tell by the crowd noises and all, but instead of just having your wide receivers acting like they can't hear you, when you pull up the coach's diagram, if you are too bad, it will even just put question marks, so even you won't know until the play starts what button they correspond to.
5. I loved the ease of getting the roster online. I didn't even have to start a game with anyone, and it even used my ea server from when i put it in last year. I usually only have to look it them up once a year, but I didn't even have to bother this year.
6. I also enjoy the stadium specific sounds such as the gobbling hokey at virginia tech and the like.
7. The graphics and animations are very much improved and the game no longer looks the cartoon of last years version.
8. Finally, you can have the computer play itself.

miscellaneous: I am not sure, b/c i don't know if it's the game's fault or the 360's. i'm playing as florida at home, i'm actually down 14 going into the fourth quarter, i send the game into ot, hold miami to a field goal, then on my turn, i make two fourth down conversions, and win the game with a td. THe game tells me i have the coolest game, blah blah blah, and then the game freezes up, and i couldn't even save the game. i was po'ed. bring back the field goal nets, and if you could, if i go for it on fourth down, or if there is a fumble, unpile the people and then have the ref declare who has the ball, instead of the screen just flipping around.

Overall, a great game, and a big improvement over the last couple of years. If it wasn't for the alamo bowl problem, i might've given this five stars.

1 Aug 08-Another strange thing about the game is with OU. If i bust a big run, and it shows the replay, for some reason, the OU logo on the scoreboard is flipped backwards. It really doesn't bother me, but it's still odd.

Changes Make it Almost Unplayable
I have been buying the NCAA football games for the past 7 years and always enjoyed each year's new edition. However, after playing NCAA 09, I am sorely disappointed and am ready to sell it. There are two major problems with the game that make it pretty much unplayable on defense. First, it is virtually impossible to rush the QB with defensive linemen or linebackers. I tried with various teams and always got stonewalled every time. The second, larger, problem is with the fact that the wide receivers pretty much catch every ball thrown to them, even in nickel and dime defensive sets. When Duke is able to complete 90% of their passes, something is not right. Anyway, these two flaws really make the game play not very fun at all and I'm suprised that it was not balanced better. I'm not ready to give up on the series yet, so I hope next year's edition will fix this issue and I'm hoping that the same problem does not occur with Madden 09.

Been playing it ever since this came out and I am VERY impressed so far!
First of all, I have been an EA sports gamer for a while now... ever since Madden and NCAA football has been developed. If you look over my past reviews I have written, you will see that I don't hold my opinion back any in regards to hammering a game title. Personally, I feel EA in regards to XBOX360 has gotten cheap and lacked quality over the years. So read this review taking that into account.

As for this game, I have to say, "ABOUT TIME!" EA's NCAA football is finely getting back to the level of its glory days in regards to quality and new inventive game options. For example, there is a new bluff option in the game. Usually when you pick a play and your team is on the field, you want to check what that play looks like before you snap the ball. The problem with doing that is the other team knows what you are calling right before you snap. The new bluff feature allows you to show multiple bluff plays on the field - both runs and passes. You can show multiple bluff plays and throw in your real one to see what it looks like and still not totally give away what you are doing... GREAT ADDITION TO THE GAME!!! The recruiting in the game is a lot better also. This game allows you to now pick and choose what you want to do in regards to recruiting and let the computer take care of the rest. It provides options for people who want a little assistance to allowing the computer to do it all.

The game play finely is smooth again. Running the ball seems more realistic and passing is more fun. I think the game programers of today have finely started to catch up to the XBOX360's technology... finely. The past games just didnt feel right to play. Newer gamers (People who started playing this game in 2006 to now) probably wouldnt notice this however if you have played this game and Madden forever, you'll notice.

About the graphics... the xbox360 has always done pretty well with graphics, however, this year it looks even better. I have to stress one thing though. Having a quality TV makes all of the difference. For example, I have an older model HDTV 27inch that I played this game on and it looked nice, however, when I played this on my 52inch 1080p LCD HDTV... this game is AWESOME!!! Regardless the game is fun no matter what TV you have.

Well I will probably be adding to this review as I play more. So far I have not experienced any freezing moments or glitches in the game, however since the game only came out yesterday, I may change my attitude about that topic. I havent played it enough to give a totally valid opinion. With that said nothing so far.

UPDATE: I'm still enjoying the game very much. Still no Freezing up like the poster stated before the game came out. I've noticed a lot more things about the game also. There is A LOT more detail to it in regards to the stadium, crowd and sideline action. Your cheerleaders are sad when you mess up for example. I remember in older games the crowd and cheerleaders would celebrate no matter what. The Crowd and Sideline players interact more with the game. About the game being too easy??? I do not agree with that. Play the game on a higher level and try playing with the teams that don't have every player rated high. I usually stay away from the USCs of the game. What is the point? The team is already perfect - in regards to player ratings. Basically, if you want it to be harder there are ways of making the game harder. One Con about the game I do not like is that blitzing is a lot harder. In the past speed rushing on the sides was a lot easier. That changed last year so I went to LBs to blitz manually. This year I can't get through with the LBs or LE/RE. Being able to hit the QB is something I really enjoyed in the past. This does take away from the fun factor of the game - a little. With that said, still a great game!

Daniel
