Date: 2008-12-05 Very Good Capture Software - Recommended! Having to write technical documentation and produce training material often requires me to grab dialog boxes and screen shots. Since "Snagit" is my company's (Fortune 500) only approved capture software, this is the tool we were given to use. As it turns out, it is the right software for the job! More than just a screen capture utility, Snagit lives up to its advertising by simplifying image/document retrieval and allowing for a wide range of export options.
Highly recommended!
Date: 2008-11-30 Incrediably useful I love SnagIt. I work as a systems analysis for a healthcare organization. I am constantly teaching users software and troubleshooting issues. A picture (or video) is worth a thousand words. I have used SnagIt since version 7 and initially I was not going to purchase this version because I did not think that there was enough useful new functionality to make it worth my while. But the auto-save feature for captures has made a HUGE difference. I can take multiple captures and not have to worry about stopping and saving each capture. That alone is a timesaver but i can then take those images and annotate them from directly within the preview window. Very often, I capture and annotate and then paste it into an email without ever having to save a file.
I also have set up the hotkeys for my most common captures (ie an image to clipboard or an image to printer) then all I have to do is press the key combination in order to perform the capture.
I am glad I have purchased the upgrade - it's made my work life easier. I use at home a lot as well. If I see something on the internet that I want tosave then I just capture the page. I don't save it to my favorites anymore - just copy the page and save it into Microsoft's OneNote. Although, images can be tagged and searched from SnagIt if you don't own OneNote.
Date: 2008-11-28 Great Tool Years ago I used a much older version of SnagIt - but a recent writing assignment required capturing quite a few images for a magazine article. I have to say that this is an exceptional tool - highly recommended.
Date: 2008-11-11 Outstanding Product I have only used SnagIt for presentations but I would rate it as a must have for students, engineers and program managers or anyone else who has to create professional looking presentations rapidly from a multitude of sources (e.g. websites, terminal windows, graphics anything you can see on the screen )
Date: 2008-09-25 Darn Pretty... Darn Slow I so wanted to love the new Snagit 8 was great... took a bit of tweaking but best of the bunch. 9 not so great... beautiful new look but so slow I can eat my lunch before a screen capture pops up.
Hopefully a few updates will help this product really shine.
