Works well (once you get it installed)
I recently upgraded from Microsoft OneCare on two home computers running Vista. Installation on the first PC was flawless. On the second, an HP laptop, I ran into a problem whereby the installation program would reverse itself after it was about half way done.
To make a long story short, this is caused by a conflict between the installation program and some (unknown) services that happen to be running on your machine. Do the following if you run into this problem:
1) Type "msconfig" in the start menu search box
2) Choose the "diagnostic setup" option from the General tab and select OK. - DO NOT REBOOT YET.
3) Download and run the Norton Removal Tool [...]
4) REBOOT NOW.
5) Install Norton 360 and repeat step 1 (this time choose "Normal Startup")
6) FINAL REBOOT.

The new Norton 360 verson 2 is easy to install and gives excellent protection against many potential problems with the internet- viruses, phishing, security of transactions, etc. Highly recommend.

POOR
Bought this today at Staples,and it would not load. I kept getting a missing SysIM.sys message. By unloading it, it corrupted the chance at restoring 2008. Called support who could not load it. They put 2009 and carried over the subscription from the 360 program which eases the headache.

I have always used Norton ever since I got the computer. The price was more than fare at Amazon. It does it all. 5 stars

Prefer to pay for a suite
I have used Norton for years and the only time I ever had a problem was when I had saved an attachment to scan later (this was in 2002). I didn't scan the file immediately and opened it a year later wondering what it was. As you can imagine, it put a virus on my computer.
I was using free software on this computer and ended up with a keylogger, trojan, and a search redirect. I still haven't gotten rid of the search redirect. I am glad I spent the money for this product because I have no update issues, the firewall is integrated, and the monitoring is in the background.
This version doesn't have the resource usage that has been seen in the past. The virus scans are done during idle time, so it doesn't slow down your computer.
