Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection Review (continued)

Date: 2008-08-01 Awsome collection Great collection. The only thing is; even though they have MGS2 substance and MGS3 subsistance, they don't have the bonus disks for either game. But that aside, great games that are well worth the money.
Date: 2008-08-01 Great Collection This is fantastic and stylish. I had been wanting to get into the metal gear series for a while (I rented MGS2 a few years back and played it non-stop until I completed it.) and this is an excellent price to get into it with. The boxes and manuals have unique art that hasn't been seen on previous boxes and all match in style to make the set look great together. Also nice is getting the PSX game in a DVD case instead of one of those fragile jewel cases. If I have any complaint, it's that the box they all fit into is kind of flimsy. It would be nice if they had made it a bit thicker. This doesn't detract from the games, of course. They were so great that I couldn't resist going out and picking up the PS3 bundle with MGS4.
Date: 2008-07-29 Excellent Collection I got this collection because I had no idea what was going on in the fourth game. I am extremely happy with this purchase. I consider this a bargain because it's three games for 30 bucks. The only thing I think is horrible is that MGS3's second disk is missing.
MGS1- One word somes up this game. Epic. The story, characters, gameplay, bosses, everything is epic. This game deserves every bit of praise it's received. A solid 5/5.
MGS2- A weak sequal, but by no means a bad game. It's fun and chalanging, but some parts are too easy followed by extremley hard parts. Also, the new player charcter, Raiden, is dissapointing considering I had loved playing as Snake for the fourth and first game. A 4/5.
MGS3- I love this game. You play as Big Boss during the Cold War in Russia fighting your own mentor, her Cobra Unit, a primitive Metal Gear, and last but not least, Volgin. Pretty epic if you ask me. And one thing I truly love about this game is that it is really emotional. The most emotional game I've played. The last boss fight and that last, ringing gun shot is amazing. And the bosses are great, with The End being one of my favorite bosses of all time, right up there with Psycho Mantis. I'd like to give this game a 10/5, but I can't, so I'll have to stick with 5/5.
So overall this is an excellent collection with amazing games.
Date: 2008-07-28 great games! i absolutely love this series of games. the only problem is that it does not include the second disc of metal gear solid 3. it has the full game just not all the extras.
Date: 2008-07-25 MGS The Essential Collection: a spy game series that rivals James Bond Game series I started playing since I was a kid. A unique form of game play, fun, and exciting series that rivals James Bond! These games have parts to it that you have to get past with the aid of something outside the game! I have never played a game like that before, I love it! The series has a plot that is pure fiction but has a real-life spin to it. If you like spy games that have terrorists as the bad guys, this is your game!
