Another World of Warcraft expansion draws to a close. Yes, this review is written at the very end of the expansion (with all additional content now released and completed) and is therefore perhaps the most accurate.
Having played World of Warcraft since well before the first expansion (The Burning Crusade), it would be true to say that I have been here since the beginning and that I've seen the MMO grow and change and develop in various interesting ways. World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King was undoubtedly a giant leap forward for Blizzard's (in)famous game.
So, about Wrath of the Lich King:
First of all, it is important to note that players must first purchase the original World of Warcraft -and- The Burning Crusade -and- level a character from 1 to 68 before being able to experience Wrath of the Lich King content. This might seem like a challenge, but that's what EXPANSION means. Wrath of the Lich King is not a separate entity from World of Warcraft. Instead, Wrath was an addition to a pre-existing virtual world.
As far as expansions (and indeed, MMO's in general) are concerned, World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King represents the very top of the line. My experience with games like Guild Wars, Aion Online, Second Life, and Perfect World all bear one commonality: Poor User Interface. The controls are constantly jumpy, the combat mechanics are not smooth, and the plot is typically weak.
World of Warcraft, by contrast, offers an incredibly smooth and adaptable user interface with an intricate plot that involves players from the first quest. Blizzard Entertainment has only enhanced these already-impressive features by adding in Wrath of the Lich King new cutscenes and plot-advancing quest lines that give the expansion a much stronger narrative feel.
If Wrath of the Lich King was a step forward, the upcoming Cataclysm expansion is the next step. Anyone interested in online gaming must inevitably choose World of Warcraft as their game of choice.
Date: 2010-02-18 WoW In more than one way Wrath of the Lich King expansion pack for the online role-playing game World of Warcraft is just about everything i heard that it would be, the quests for the new class, Death Knight, are a lot of fun, and the the basic back story of the Death Knight is pretty cool too.
Date: 2010-02-06 World of warcraft of the Lich King Expansion pack if you been play world of Warcraft this next game very hard. But would take a lot long to get level 80 but if play everyday be easy. I can't wait for next game come out and add to this game.
Date: 2010-02-05 WOW Wrath of the Lich King I purchased this as a gift and it is clearly working perfectly for my grandson on his new Windows 7 computer.
Date: 2010-01-31 Blizzard keeps getting better I've played WoW since a few weeks after its release, I stopped playing for a year only to get hooked back on WotLK. Blizzard keeps finding ways to make the game more appealing to everyone and there's always something to do. Whether I've got a day off with nothing to do or a few minutes before work I can always pass some time with this game. The storylines are great, the game is really easy to learn, and you will get hooked.
