Date: 2008-05-26 BitDefender free online scanner I have to jump in here ... I can attest that Bitdefender free online scanner is fabulous! My machine was totally cheesed - AVG found nothing, Avast found nothing, but BitDefender wiped out the bugs and I am VERY impressed. Had I not read these reviews I would have probably purchased their newest version.
Date: 2008-05-24 What happened to my system...? This is truly a horrible piece of software. After installing and using BitDefender over the course of a week my system became RIDICULOUSLY unstable! Suddenly games that I had run flawlessly for years would suffer nasty drops in framerate and sometimes totally freeze up. Any multitasking resulted in a crash, processes would load into memory but never appear onscreen, all sorts of nasty things. I thought I had a virus that BitDefender wasn't catching...turns out the cause was the anti-virus software itself! Uninstalled BitDefender and suddenly everything works like a charm again. I'm now using AdAware Pro and Outpost Pro as a firewall, with no problems. I should add that I am on Windows XP x64, perhaps it is more stable on x86 operating systems. As far as I'm concerned though, BitDefender is pathetic, PATHETIC software, do not pay money for this!
Date: 2008-05-09 Why do people use windows People who use windows have to buy all this crap just to sustain their hoggish, unreliable WIndows OS from getting a virus, trojan, worm, intruder, spayware, adware and crashing like it loves to do. The program itself isn't that great and runs pretty buggy on Vista.
Date: 2008-04-29 Absolutely total security I have been using BitDefender for the pass few months, and I enjoy the security it does give me. I had McAfee, and I'm glad I got rid of it. It was a hog everytime it did an update, which was anytime it wanted to and gave no warning it was updating. The only way you knew McAfee was updating was when everything slowed way down. I had reviewed its performance and it took 90 percent of my cpu time just updating. I grew to detest it. I found BitDefender a welcome relief. It does its job very well. When I first installed it into two of my computers, it immediately found seven viruses on one computer, and four on the other one. And McAfee was supposed to have guarded against these intrusions, HA! BitDefender is everything it is advertised to be. It is very user-friendly, and especially important, it updates and scans when you want it to. It has clear help instructions, and if needed, a link for real time help with their tech support. Scanning and tuneups are done quickly. It also generates reports for you to read and for them to use, no names included, to improve the program and keep a real-time watch if there is a major virus outbreak for them to respond to it quickly. It will give you peace of mind. If you have children or teens, the parental controls are very good to keep them from going to where you don't want them to go, by chance or on purpose.
Date: 2008-04-23 NOT A HOG! I LIKE BITDEFENDER! and it's not a resource HOG like Norton. Updating hourly only takes seconds so it has no affect on my workload. This software will definitely guarantee a hacker-proof and virus-proof pc. It also has a five star firewall. Can not believe the license is updated for 2 YEARs. A bonus and one less thing to hassle with.
