Hoyle Card Games 2008 [OLD VERSION] Review (continued)

Date: 2008-08-27 Save Your Money Save your money. The games are fun and work well. However, there are very few variations. The bridge, Blackjack and Solitare all only have maybe a dozen games and then repeats. It is pretty bad when you play bridge and by looking at your hand you know the winning bid and the play of the game. The same is true for all of the games. There has to be something better out there.
Date: 2008-08-18 Reality bites, literally...Odds favor the computers' players not the challenger. Illustrations and animation are exceptional. Ability to create a self image is fun. Drawback is that the player gets lousy cards, especially the Bridge Hands!
Date: 2008-08-16 Not worth the upgrade It's a great game - but I had the older version and was just as happy with it. This was harder to install and the features in this "updated version" weren't much different than the older one. I could have saved the money and kept the old one. Also, it would have been nice if the high scores and the charachter I had created for myself in the previous version were transferred to the upgrade.
If you are purchasing this for the first time - it is totally worth it. But if you are expecting something new and different by upgrading to this verion, you will be dissappointed.
Date: 2008-08-13 disappointing Disappointed in the quality of programming. For example, in spades, the characters routinely make dumb plays -- last one playing uses a high spade rather than a low one or the partner has played an ace and will take trick but the character uses a spade even though the trick would be taken by the team. The poker game often results in similar hands being dealt (e.g., 3 pairs of 5s over 6 hands) which seem to defy statistical odds. The programmed verbiage gets old quick (how often does one need to hear "let me see,........check"). Could use a decent version of hold 'em - the "video poker" edition was found lacking.
Date: 2008-08-09 Hoyle Card Games 2008 If you enjoy playing card games, and who doesn't, this is a great product to purchase! If you are a beginner or not familiar with some of the games, Help, or the Book that comes with the CD, is very informative.
