Rock On!!!
This game is fun and some songs I find very challenging. Much better than Guitar hero II. And playing online is a blast!

Good family get toghether fun
I bought Guitar Hero III for my nephews during the last family get together but I were not sure how they would like it because they had mostly played fighting or shoot'em up games. It turned out to be a big hit with all of us. We stayed up late almost every nights playing it (2am once!) and had lot of fun.
There is a cheat code that you can enter to make most of the songs available for quick play and this is where a new comer can sample his/her favored songs and get a pretty good experience of the game. The song list is long and varied so that both old and young folks can find something to tryout. If you get booed out of the stage for playing badly, you can go into practice mode to play at a slower pace to learn the song a few sections at a time.
I want to point out that pulling up the guitar does activate "start power" even on the PS2 guitar. The PS2 wireless guitar controller works just fine in single player mode. In dual players mode, both controllers would hang occasionally. This is the only thing that prevent me from giving the game full 5 stars.
I have not played any of the other Guitar Hero series but his one is definitely a hit with me. I would recommend this game as a good family time activity.

A+++++++++++++ THIS GAME ROCKS!!!!!!, I love the wirless guitar. choices of old songs and news songs to play was great. This would have to be my #1 game that i have ever played. so much fun.

Too much fun
The songs are terrific. The hammer-on and pull-offs are better marked, and the fret track has less distracting graphics. My only complaint is the wireless guitar isn't as responsive as my wired. I actually need to be closer to the PS2 with the wireless than I am with the wired.

Incredibly Addicting
This is the first guitar hero game I have gotten out of the series, and I am very impressed. The variety of songs spans throughout different time periods, the graphics and background are very good, and once you pick it up it is hard to put down. One problem I have with it is that in order to advance on through the game, you have to be really good. In career mode level easy the songs get difficult fast, and in my opinion are not easy at all. The guitar itself is fine, but I do find it a little awkward to use, specifically the whammy bar. Overall, however, this game fun and addicting, and I would recommend it for anyone.
One sidenote is to order it with the Surper Saving Shipping. It was free, and literally two days after I placed my order the package arrived. Everyone should use this type of shipping to buy this product.
