Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning Review (continued)

Date: 2008-10-22 PvP for people who hate PvP Ordinarily, I hate PvP in MMORPGs with a passion. Maybe it's from bad memories from older games where PvP mostly consisted of 14 year olds griefing other players, or maybe it's because I have the reflexes of an 80 year old arthritic turtle, but even in WoW with its spectacular PvP rewards, I had no desire to do it.
If you are like me, you are probably reading some of these reviews that tell you the game is still fun even if you stick entirely to PvE content. Don't pay any attention to such talk. Don't listen to any of it. Yes, the PvE is decent in this game, but even if you ordinarily hate player vs player content, give it a try in this game. The scenarios (instanced PvP battles) are an absolute gas, and the massive keep sieges (what might be called "world PvP" in WoW) are thoroughly addictive, even if your side is losing.
Faction balance isn't much of an issue because each class has a nearly identical counterpart in the opposite faction. Pet classes are currently a bit weak, but even so are a lot of fun (especially at lower ranks).
Bottom line: while I doubt this game will bring down the WoW juggernaut, that is mostly because WoW has such an insanely large population and most people don't want to leave their friends (after all, friends are the whole point of any MMO), and not because WoW is necessarily a better game.
I originally stayed away from this game because it has so much focus on PvP. The only reason I bought it was because a couple of friends wanted me to play with them, and now PvP is the whole reason I log in every day.
Date: 2008-10-21 a welcome MMO Pro's + great for PVPer's adds new blood for those looking for something "fresh" great communication from Mythic mature population lived in world, feels realistic no more searching for a quest, everything you need is at your fingertips the Journel is novel and needed for an MMO game is skill based not item based solid customer support Fun!! grinding is existant but not punishing, easy to do no more "get 10 toes from 1000 toeless trolls" doesnt punish you for playing "no sleep for you!" all fascets of play are equally rewarding cons- dungeons are uninspired PVE is decent but better is available graphics are good but appear bland (this was intentional I assume) Animations appear sort of stiff loading screens in between acts (world isnt seamless) some glitches need to be worked out classes dont scream "play me!"
Bottomline: Worth playing if you love to PVP or want something more gritty. To address the giant elephant in the room, War cant compete against WOW's PVE content however it trumps WOW's PVP content in spades. Each game will cater to their own crowd. WAR fills a much needed gap in the current PVP MMO market.
Did you convert? Yes even with WOTLK looming in the horizon, I will be playing WAR and I am not looking back.
Date: 2008-10-21 Warhammer: online Review This game is far more than I expected. The gameplay Seems to be never ending. And at any lvl it is fun to play. The RvR was made flawlessly. The only downfall I would say about it is it requires a pretty heafty computing system to run. Which only means that the graphics are AWESOME!!
Overall I think this game will be a very successful game. and anyone wit doubts should really play it especially if you like World of warcraft.Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning
Date: 2008-10-20 Not a bad game, just not the game for me. First off let me make a 2 part statement: 1) I play WoW 2) I wish I didn't
I bought the game because apparently all my friends were going from World of Warcraft to this, and I enjoyed playing WoW with them. However when I started playing it I just wasn't hooked. I feel the game was released too early (although I don't think they would have made the improvements I was looking for even with more time). I also have a grudge with EA and their terrible customer service and crappy coding (or games that were put together too fast and thusly broken).
Personally I never had any problems with the game running. I just (even having played other MMOs) found the game to be too boring and straight forward.
In short, this game has it's ups and downs. My friends seem to LOVE the ups, but all I really ran into was the downs (not the syndrome).
So, will you love it? I don't know, it's not a terrible game, just another way to waste time.
Date: 2008-10-20 Solid Warhammer brings a lot of new concepts to the table, like public quests, and very involved PvP battlegrounds. Its a good addition to the MMORPG selection available today, though graphically it doesn't break any new grounds.
Has the same restrictions that it seems the genre is leaning towards, with cookie cutter classes, learn this skill at that lvl leaving the player very little room for customization or tweaking, but fun nonetheless.
