Date: 2008-11-26 RIP Tabula Rasa [...]
"Last November we launched what we hoped would be a ground breaking sci-fi MMO. In many ways, we think we've achieved that goal. Tabula Rasa® has some unique features that make it fun and very different from every other MMO out there. Unfortunately, the fact is that the game hasn't performed as expected. The development team has worked hard to improve the game since launch, but the game never achieved the player population we hoped for.
So it is with regret that we must announce that Tabula Rasa will end live service on February 28, 2009.
Before we end the service, we'll make Tabula Rasa servers free to play starting on January 10, 2009.
We can assure you that through the next couple of months we'll be doing some really fun things in Tabula Rasa, and we plan to make staying on a little longer worth your while. For more details about what we are doing for Tabula Rasa players, please click here.
Stay tuned for more information. We thank you for your loyal support of the game and encourage you to take us up on the benefits we're offering Tabula Rasa players.
The Tabula Rasa Team"
Date: 2008-11-03 pay and keep paying This is a pay to play game. You have to start paying as soon as you get online. What a genius buisness model. You start by giving them your credit card and like a taxi the minutes buzz by on a meter. You are about $30 in before you get past level one. I think you should just burn dollar bills instead. I would rather pay $60 1 x for a new game then 100's for some subscription.
Date: 2008-09-30 A Good Deal with a Caveat Tabula Rasa is an interesting combination of first-person shooter and a role-playing game with character advancement similar to many fantasy games. This package includes the install DVD and a lengthy user manual. Reading the tiny type in the manual will save you dozens of hours of trial and error. I advise that you download the manual from the Tabula Rasa site and read it on-screen -- the type is much more readable!
I thought buying this package would save me from having to download the 3+GB client software, but nope, as soon as I installed from the DVD I then had to download the upgrade to the latest version which was, you guessed it -- 3+GB!
Date: 2008-09-29 Tabula Rasa Excellent Game. I had a lot of fun playing it, altho' most of the time I was playing solo. Not as easy to get into some groups for things in this game as it is to get into groups for some other games.
I still had a very very fun time playing it and I definitely recommend at least trying it out if you haven't.
Date: 2008-09-20 Not what it was at launch, and that's a good thing. A very well done game, contrary to what a lot of people have said. Most of the negative opinions are either based on the beta product or the launch version. It's been patched, expanded, and polished. I really disliked this game -- a lot -- at launch. As a gamer I can say this is easily one of the best games out there. 4.99 plus 30 days? I mean, come on, how can you not try it? Give it a shot...an exceptional game that has come a long, long way.
