Best RPG since Baldur's Gate!
I'll keep this short. I am an avid RPG gamer most interested in storyline and graphics. The last time I was so engrossed in a game was Baldur's Gate 2. The Witcher captures everything that makes a game hard to stop playing. The story is so intriguing it's like reading a great novel.

Finally, a mature, gripping RPG that bests every other game in its genre, let alone all others (i.e. Oblivion...a very weak game). Buy this game NOW to experience what I and many others are going through with this masterpiece.

Extraordinary game
To many Siskel & Eberts in the PC gaming world. If I would have chose not to try this game as a result of some of the user reviews here I would have missed out on one hell of a game play experience. There have been some very minor issues ie:got booted to the desktop twice through out the entire game, but other than that the game play was flawless. I've only been playing pc games for over 20 years so maybe I shouldn't comment :)and yes I am a little old to be playing computer games.

Great
This is a great game. If you're reading this review, then buy it. I guess people complaining that it takes a while to load are using really slow computers. They also released several patches, so maybe their game isn't up to date.

Wish the patch worked!
I would have given this game a 5 if the patch worked. It is very slow to load and crashes constantly. Otherwise, it is a gorgeous game--a wonderful game. I just love it but it drives me nuts with the constant crashing. An effective patch would be a big help but the current one, 1.2, is no help at all. Yes, I unzipped it and ran it.

Best RPG in a LONG time, Great Story, Great Character
I was playing through HellGate London when I got sick of the crashes and quirky interfaces, as well as the memory leaks, and decided I would look for a new RPG Experience. I read a review by PC Gamer, and decided, heck, I will give it a try. Bought it online, and I can say this was one of the best purchases I have made since Half-Life, what a great game!

The Story is unique, and the world it is in is DEFINITELY NOT old english medieval, I have heard some sites review this game as classic old english medieval tolkien, and it is without question not that. The game is a unique universe, the mechanics are very different, especially the combat system, and the effects and benefits of the leveling up system are great, you don't have ot wait to use or get something, you level up and hte effects are immediate. The story telling in the game is the best part, the quests and characters are interesting, and their are only a few fedex missions in the game.

Read the books as well, the Last wish was just translated, you can get it on Amazon, its excellent, I don't typically like games that force you to play as one character, thats in some ways anti-RPG, but if you have to play as a set character, Geralt is an AWESOME character to play as.

The only knock is the loading screens, it has been improved with the 1.2 patches, but its still bad in some areas. ALso your character puts his weapon away soemtimes at funny times, but these are minor and don't distract too much from the great fun of this game. Easily over 100 hours of gameplay if you do all of the quests.
