Hellgate: London Review (continued)
More User Submitted Hellgate: London Reviews
Date: 2008-07-17 The Situation at Flagship Studios I have played this game and it is fun but a bit clunky and repetitive. I would however like to point out that all developers at Flagship Studios have been laid off in July 2008 and that the current intellectual property ownership of this game is now uncertain or in doubt. What this means to new players is that the extra content patches that were promised on the box and in numerous reviews and on the game's website may or may not come to fruition. Please keep this in mind before purchasing this game.
Date: 2008-07-03 Can't beat it for the price! I have an older computer running XP and this game runs very smoothly on it. Very nice graphics, frame-rate, and game-play. All-in-all I have found Hellgate: London to be very enjoyable and fun. I would recommend this game, and with the price at what it is ... you can't go wrong!
Date: 2008-07-01 Were they serious? I bought the game from target a week or so after it came out. And haven't touched it in maybe 7 months. Given that take this review with a grain of salt.
The game out of the package can only be described by one phrase. Not complete. I have heard there have been large patches and updates. I don't want to go too much into the details of the game upon release because it was so long ago, I just want to say. Try before you buy. Find a friend that has it and try it out, it has the potential for a great game but when i played it out of the box, it just was not there yet.
Date: 2008-06-09 Hellgate: London - A Dramatic Turnaround, an amazing game. Hellgate: London started off painfully; the game didn't live up to the expectations of the users or developers and a great deal of bad blood was generated between the two.
Eight months have passed; the game that was reviewed by so many others isn't the game you see available today. With hundreds of user requested and developer promised changes, the core experience has grown, the community has seen new features brought to light and even more content has made its way to users.
The core game is an action role playing game. It's been dubbed an MMORPG - but that's just not the case. There's a full single player game in the box with six classes to play (guardian, blademaster, marksman, engineer, summoner and evoker) as well as FREE TO PLAY online multiplayer - a system very similar to Diablo.
There's also a subscription plan that includes great new content and some subscriber only features like weapons, armor and unique functions.
As of this writing the next evolution in Hellgate: London is on the way TODAY. Patch 2.0 will be dropping on the test servers. With 1.3GB of new content, the developers have really put together something that will wow users.
If you're looking for a great dungeon crawler with the option of pay-to-play for new content, Hellgate: London is a great choice. Check it out!
Date: 2008-05-24 Buyer Beware Just to give potential buyer's a head's up, Flagship Studios gave pink slips to its entire development team and this game is now in a state of flux. The servers are still up as of 16 Jul 08, but continuing content updates are now unknown. Might want to save your money until this situation resolves itself.
