*****WARNING!!! DO NOT BUY THIS GAME**************
It has been announced that the online servers for the North American and European versions of this game will be going offline after January 31, 2009. If you buy this game, you will be left with nothing but a VERY unstable Single-Player version. You have been warned!

Like a FPS Diablo (not diablo II)
I'm about 80% done with the game, been playing it like a FPS with the engineer class. It's definitely a good time-killer, and I find that playing from the first person perspective much more enjoyable than the 3rd person perspective in Diablo I and II.

I was part of the beta test, and from that I anticipated waiting for it to hit the discount rack. Had I paid $50-60 I would have been disappointed. But at less than $20, it's a good game.

Despite what I've read in at least one review, you do not need to register to get the (HIGHLY) recommended updates. Admittedly, I am using an older gaming laptop (Ferrari 4000 series), but the framerate consistency before patching was horrible. It still chokes up at times, but not so much that I can't run back into a clear location to let the framerate stabilize.

At the current price, this is a clear winner.

Fun and worth the money but not much more.
For the price It's at now around 15$ it is well worth it not only that but the only mmo sort of play it has to is also free wich is basicly the exact same thing as the single player but just online allowing you to form parties with other players. The game has a strong story fun gameplay and interesting combat elements all which add up to make a pretty good game.

Worthy succesor to D1 and D2.
I admit I waited until the price went down for this game, because the reviews for the most part were brutal.
So I got it a few days ago,and alternate playing it on my XP OS and my new Vista Premium OS.The XP computer is 5 years old,and runs the game perfectly. As does the Vista. No bugs. No gliches.
Now,for the review: I cannot understand all of the harsh reviews this game is getting from some people. I was as addicted to D1 and D2 as a human being could possibly be,so I have experience with the franchise. And I am waiting breathlessly for D3 to come out.But meanwhile, this game has proven (to me) that it is indeed a worthy successor to D1 & D2.
The graphics are killer. The character/class options are great. The weaponry and loot is great. The monsters and their bosses are every bit as good as the first two D's.There are gazillions of quests, and plenty of loot to be found all over the city.I found myself playing it until 4 in the morning the day I got it.I used to do that with D1&2 as well. The save method is a VAST improvement over D2's.The voice actors are okay for the most part.
The only things I consider not as good as the prior games:The music is nowhere near as cool and weird and scary as the two previous games. And the only other thing would be that there is only limited storage space in the inventory.Because when you are out killing things, some of them, not necessarily bosses, drop a huge amount of loot and you have to transport yourself back to your last visited city to sell the stuff, then go back and retrieve the rest.
So until D3 comes out,I will be playing this game very happily.

Truly A Journey Into Hell
I'm not sure what happened to all the reviews for this game, but let me repost what I had before.

DO NOT BUY IT.

I know the cheap price and epic marketing blurbs (a Hell rift opens up in a future London? Awesome!) make it seem like a great purchase, but do not be tempted. Even at this point, almost a year after the premiere, this game is pure failure.

The mechanics are bad. The graphics are clunky. The online service (ha ha) is spotty and gimped.

Best of all, the developer is out of business. That's right, this game was so awesome that it spurred Flagship Studios right out of operation.
