Date: 2008-08-07 Perennially broken franchise mode I just quickly want to agree with another reviewer who criticized the broken player progression model in Madden's franchise mode. In reality, players do not improve because they have big games statistically. They have big games because they have improved. Until EA reverses this fundamentally flawed concept, their franchise mode will never work right long-term. PlLayer progression should be based on 3 things: starting playing time, coaching quality, and a third unmodifiable category of "aptitude" or "intelligence". But it's not likely EA will ever see the light on this issue, the same way they won't fix the salary cap, roster glitches, on and on. It's amazing that they can let the same old problems fester for so long...amazing that is, until you realize that they just don't care any more.
Date: 2008-07-05 I'm addicted to Madden Football I buy the new version of Madden for PC just about every year. I wish they would expand/ enhance the scouting drills for the draft, but I have greatly enjoyed this game, as always. It's th only way I can get my favorite team to win the Super Bowl.
Date: 2008-06-17 Almost Too Late To Be Great This is a great game if youre not prepared to wait until August of 08 or are interested in single player mode. The online capabilities may be out of question after this summer is over but the gameplay and graphics are phenominal. I totally recommend this game to all football lovers. The price is definitely worth the most rewarding football gaming franchises in history.
Date: 2008-05-12 The best madden I played in years!!!!! I haven't played Madden football games since the late 1990's. But Madden 08 is the best football game I have ever played. You can play teams in retro Jersey and the soundtrack is very nice too. This version of Madden had improved than the other madden I had played in the past. I give this game 5 Stars; It is just like playing a real football game on your computer.!!!!!!!!!!
Date: 2008-04-24 Great graphics, but gameplay too easy. Challenge me, CPU!!!
I'm on the All Madden level, and I'm routing all of my CPU opponents by half time, and just running out the clock in the second half (That's right. I never run up the score. I believe the football gods are always watching...).
I'm using the Oakland Raiders, who aren't the greatest team in the league. The only team that put up a fight against me in my first franchise season is the Colts. Naturally so, they're the Super Bowl champion as of the production of this game. I still wind up beating them, but they're the only team that gets within a touchdown of me.
Played New England in the second season of my franchise, and killed them by half time, as well. Come on. As much as I enjoy my Raiders pummeling Tom Brady for a sack 5 times, we know this isn't realistic. On past Maddens, the All Madden level is supposed to be pretty much the real time level, where some knowledge of football, i.e., audibles, formation subs, etc., is required to even make a game of it. I am an experienced player, but this year's version is way too easy. It's taking the fun out of it.
This is the PC version, so I'm playing solo most of the time. I hope they're not just designing the games for online competition, now. I don't always like to play online. They should make the CPU challenging enough, especially on the higher levels, to make the game a challenging and rewarding exercise. I'm not getting that from Madden '08.
