SingStar Pop Review (continued)
More User Submitted SingStar Pop Reviews
Date: 2007-06-27 It's no KR This game was ok, but not worth the money. The songs are more up-to-date and cool, but the overall fun of the game isnt as good as karaoke revolution. There are no "extras" or really even goals to try to achieve. Also, you have to use the special "singstar" microphones.
Date: 2007-05-24 Fun weekend entertainment If you liked Singstar rocks or American idol kareoke games, you will like this one. The videos are a nice touch, and all in all, it is good party entertainment for if you are entertaining guests.
Date: 2007-05-19 Kids are diggin' it. My kids love this game (2 girls, 8 and 11). They loved the the rock version also. Even though the quantity of songs is somewhat limited, they sing them over and over. This is good practice. All in all, this game passes the the time and entertains tremendously.
Date: 2007-04-12 Not a bad game overall If you judge this game on its own merits without comparing it to the Karaoke Revolution series it is decent entertaiment. I have most of the KR games and they are superior, but if you are tired of singing those songs and are itching for the next installment this should keep you busy for a while. It's biggest drawback is the setlist. There simply are not enough songs. Second, the fact that it requires you to buy the mics to play it is a waste of money for those of us that already have mics from the KR games. I will say though that the mics are good quality - kind of heavy and very sensitive. I read some reviews where some folks didn't like it that you could not turn down the vocals on the game - you have to sing with/over the original artist. If you are used to KR then that sounds like a drawback but on this game, trust me, you WILL hear your voice. Maybe more than you want to. KR can make someone sound better than they really do (thank the Lord for that blessed little arrow), but this game shows no such mercy. God help you if you are a mediocre singer (like myself) because you can score high but have every dog in the area headed for your house at the same time. And for the love of everything right and holy DO NOT try to listen to your performance through the playback song option. If you are a good singer it would probably interest you, but if you are like me and MUST have the "bar" to stay on key that playback feature is just a cruel tragedy. The game is also sorely lacking in the area of repeat gameplay attraction since you don't unlock any bonus material and even though you get a score at the end of the song no max score is specified so you don't have a goal to shoot for. When you re-sing you're just trying to beat your own high score. If you love KR I recommend asking yourself the question "just how bored am I really?" before buying this game. However if you are looking for a game that's more like true karaoke than a video game I think you will enjoy this.
Date: 2007-04-12 It's all about the Song List
SingStar Pop is a karaoke game, featuring 30 songs and 6 medleys from some of the world's most popular artists. Beyond the traditional lyrics-at-the-bottom of the screen, this karaoke game also uses pitch and timing bars. SingStar offers 3 levels of difficulty, several Party and Multiplayer games as well as a Freestyle and Single Player mode. The game is available as a bundle with 2 Microphones for only $49, which is a great deal no-matter-what, or without the mics for $30. The game works interchangeable with SingStar Rocks (Released in November 2006), and it even allows players to switch between discs without exiting the game or powering down the PlayStation. Tweens, Teens and Adults will have a blast as they sing "with" and "against" each other on their PlayStation 2 or PlayStation 3. We can assure you that SingStar Pop is a well-designed game, however a game like this will "make it" or "break it" based on how you like the song list. To find out see the full list below.
