My daughter LOVES this game!
Obviously my daughter loves this game...
I have to tell her to turn it down when she and her friends are playing it... which is all the time.

The new Karaoke Revolution?
Before I tell you how good this game is, let me give you a warning. WARNING: DO NOT BUY THE STAND-ALONE VERSION OF THIS GAME UNLESS YOU HAVE THE SINGSTAR MICROPHONES! I found that out the hard way. I bought the stand-alone version of this game thinking that my Logitech PS2 USB Microphone would work with it. WRONG! No microphones are compatable with this game except the SingStar microphones. I had to buy the SingStar Rocks! Bundle W/ Two Microphones just so I could play this game (Don't get me wrong, SingStar Rocks! is a sweet game too)! Also, don't think that you can buy the stand-alone version of this game and buy the mics seperate to save some money. You can only get the mics if you buy them with the game. If you really want this game, and you are a first-time SingStar consumer, buy the bundle instead of the stand-alone. But enough of me complaining about the mics, let me tell you why I rated this 5 out of 5 stars.

SingStar Pop is awe inspiring to say the least. Out of the 30 songs, I knew 25 right off the bat. I know some people complain that there is no way of knowing how good you sing with the scoring system, but I think I've figured it out:

0-1,999: Poor
2,000-3,999: Okay
4,000-5,999: Good
6,000-7,999: Great!
8,000-10,000: AWESOME!

SingStar Pop has many songs that modern-day kids and teens will know like "S.O.S" by Rihanna and "Over My Head (Cable Car) by The Fray. It even has a few songs that their parents might know too like "Take On Me" by A-Ha and "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" by Cyndi Lauper. If you don't know a song, you can just go into freestyle mode to practice it and you won't be scored. This game is PERFECT for house parties. With "Pass The Mic", everyone can get involved. Also, people complain that you can't hear yourself that well on the game and that there is no mic volume control. I don't think that this is a problem for three reasons:

1. It saves the really bad singers from embareasing themsleves if you have a loud suround sound system hooked up to your TV
2. You can hear yourself singing. You don't need the TV to hear what you are saying.
and 3. You can record your performance anyway if you have an Eye Toy

The USB converter is great (and no, you can't plug your karaoke machine mics into it) because it frees up a space for the Eye Toy which can record your performances. The bundle comes with not one, but TWO mics, so you can sing with a friend or realitive without spending extra money for another mic. But the best thing of all about SingStar that sets it apart from all other karaoke games is that you can watch the music video for the song in the background while singing. If you also own Singstar Rocks!, you can swap the playlist from SingStar Pop with SingStar Rocks!, and vice versa, using the disk swap feature. The list of Pros goes on and on with the SingStar series. In addition the SingStar Pop and SingStar Rocks!, the two I own, I am going to buy SingStar Amped (Stand Alone) (and maybe SingStar 80's (Stand Alone) as well), because this is such an awesome game series for people who LOVE music like I do. If you are one of those kinds of people, buy it now. Don't even hesitate, just buy it. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. I think that the SingStar series is the new Karaoke Revolution!

Another great purchase from SingStar
My husband and I bought the first SingStar last year and loved it. Recently we purchased 80's and Pop. Both are so much fun! All the options regarding competing against eacher as well as singing alone are fantastic. Worth the money! Hopefully PlayStation will produce more!

Lots of Fun
To start with, this game is a lot of fun. I can't rate this a 5. When you do the duet, you sing together and not as a duet. I guess since I sing Karaoke a duet is when two ppl sing together, but have solos. Anyhow, I do give it a 4 since this game does have a lot of fun songs. I have never been able to get my husband to do karaoke not even at home, but since we got this game and all of the other singstars, I can't get my husband to quit. lol It's great.. He actually gets into it and sings. My daughter who is almost 7 loves to get in and sing as well. I would definately recomend this game to anyone. But keep in mind, it's not like karaoke.. The Karaoke mode still has the singers in the background, but still fun non the less..
