Date: 2008-03-11 Amazing Game When I started playing MMORPG games the first game I heard of was of course World of Warcraft. When I finally started playing I realized that these cartoon graphics sucked. So when I heard of Lord of thee Rings Online I saw that it didn't have the cartoonish graphics I was amazed.Because most MMORPGs that I have played have cartoonish graphics. When I started playing the starting instance was a lot of fun. After that when I leveled up more there was an even distribution of thinngs unlocked over levels. I like the monster play aspect and even though you start at level 50 you still need to work to be as strong as the other level 50s'. This is probably one of the greatest MMORPGs to come out at this moment. Also even though it has only been a year since this was released it has almost double the amount of accounts created than World of Warcraft does, and World of Warcraft has been out for around 2 and a half years now.
Date: 2008-01-20 The Lord of the Rings Online This game is a great game to get for the whole family. I bought 2 copies and play it with my wife. It makes for a fun and entertaining value to enjoy together.
Date: 2008-01-16 Game great, don't buy special edition I downloaded the game on line, it is great, and different from WoW. I bought the Special Edition box only because I wanted the "Cloth Map" stated in the description. It does not have a cloth map. Just download the file and start playing tomorrow (it's a big file).
Date: 2007-12-10 No cloth map, no figurine. Otherwise, great, as expected. Good alternative to the "leading" MMO, great for Tolkien fans. I was let down that the map is not cloth, just a simple fold out thats too small to be useful and doesn't have any labels or anything, and there is no figurine. I wouldn't be so let down by this omission if it was not still listed on the Amazon product description. We do get the soundtrack/making of disc it mentions though, so its still better than the standalone game, and the full color manual for this edition is brilliant (and contains most of the info you'd want on the missing map!), especially in todays market of half sheet black and white "reference" books, that usually just say to check a website anyways.
So yeah, fair warning. The game itself is good though.
Date: 2007-11-10 Engrossing game for Tolkien fans! This was my first venture into MMORPG's. I have avoided them in the past due to my ADD and tendency to get so wrapped up into a game that I have been known to play 36 hrs non-stop. Having said that, this is a gem of a game with great fidelity to the world of Middle Earth as described by Tolkien. The world is vast with much to see and do. Some of the locations are simply breathtaking. What makes it fun to play are all the different quests that you encounter. some are simple & quick, others are lengthy and may require a party to complete. I can work on them a little at a time and feel very comfortable just logging on for a few minutes to do a quick task or devoting several hours to a major one. In any case I am not headed to divorce or death by exhaustion anytime soon! LOL.
