SpongeBob Squarepants Typing 2008 Review (continued)

Date: 2008-03-30 Fun but not really updated I would be wary and not pay too much for this product. Even though it is 2008, it seems like the programmers just rushed to get something to market and didn't bother to have it fully compatible. I have a Mac and was perturbed by the fact that it ran under a Classic environment. OS X has been out for how long? Then why would anyone create software to fit a MAC OS that has been obsolete for the last 8 years!!!
I felt like I overpaid for this at 10 bucks.
Date: 2008-02-27 So Cool! This software is awesome for kids who really want to learn to type or parents looking for help teaching their kids. It makes learning fun and easy. My son and I both love it and he was faster and more accurate after the first lesson. One recommendation, don't let your kids skip ahead to the games that are above their skill level because, if their like mine, it will just cause frustration.
Date: 2008-02-19 Makes a boring activity fun With this product I was finally able to get my daughter to learn to type. It makes a boring and tedious subject fun to learn.
Date: 2008-01-09 Spongebob Typing program is a great one! When I first opened this program, I was afraid it may be too hard for a beginning typist. Fortunately, once I worked through it, I found where the beginning skills practice was located. There are several levels available and even though some levels are pretty advanced, my 7 year old son enjoyed watching me use my typing skills to attempt to get a high score. I think it motivated him to try to develop his skills. I would recommend this product to others because all children in this day and time need to learn proper typing skills and since Spongebob is such a popular character, it is great for motivation!
Date: 2008-01-02 clunky on mac and no backups The game is okay, but a little confusing in terms of finding the places you want to go - lessons, practice, games, etc. They are not labeled very well.
The game did work on my Macintosh computer, but not very well. The graphics kept messing up.
Finally, the company does not let you make a backup copy of the disc, which I find absurd. As a younger children's product, the company should realize the disc is not going to be in the most pristine of environments and that parents might want to make a backup. After contacting customer service, I was told that if the disc is damaged, you have to pay $11 for a new one. I may as well buy the whole game over again.
Spongebob is the only good feature of this product because it appeals to the children. Next time, I'd go with a different company.
