Great game!
Nancy Drew and the Creature of Kapu Cave is a great game! You get to step into Nancy Drew's shoes and solve an ancient mystery on the beautiful island of hawaii! Kids of all ages will love this game, you can also learn many things about hawaii. I got this game two days ago, and just finished it. The game is exciting and has many twists and turns, you can even change into the hardy boys when you call them on your cell phone! It is hard to guess who did the crime at the end. Could it be the bad-tempered, mad scientist? Or Quiggly Kim? IT MIGHT EVEN BE THE CREATURE FROM HAWAII'S PAST. There are many other characters in the game.

Not Great
Okay, to put it kindly, this game did not live up to my expectations. I love the Nancy Drew games, but this one was a disapointment.

The game opens in Nancy's room, where Nancy gives you a quick overview of detective work. Then it's off to Hawaii. Nancy is there to work for eccentric bug doctor Dr. Quigley Kim, but before she can go to Quigley's camp, she needs to stop buy Big Island mike's Emmersion Excursions Center. And while she's there, she just happens to run into--guess who--the Hardy boys!

Okay, my first point of disgust--the Hardy Brothers. Since the annimation company changed Frank and Joe's appearences have changed in a rather unflattering way. Frank's head is huge, and Joe looks like he's wearing about a pound of makeup. It turns out that Frank and Joe are staying at the Emmersion Excursion Center to do some exploration of Big Island Mike's past. After talking to the Hardy Boys, Nancy drives to Quigley's camp and--just our luck--gets stranded there.

You can play as the Hardy boys by calling their cell phone, but there really isn't a point. All Frank and Joe can do is walking around the center, talk to Pua and Mike, and collect shells.

So anyway, Nancy is the main mastermind. She does some poking around, solves some annoying and very boring puzzles that seemingly have nothing to do with the mystery, and then catches the culprit--but not in the usual race-the-clock method that she usually uses. Oh no--that would be too interesting for this game.

Anyway, this game wasn't horrible, but it could have been much better. If you're looking for a Nancy Drew game, I'd reccomend Danger on Deception Island.

Great Series...Quick Fun...Bad Game
I am one of the biggest fans of the Nancy Drew gaming franchise...i own and have solved every one...but this one threw me a curve...

It was boring.

At the beginning, as in most of these games, your really excited about trying to solve it and at how the mystery unfolds. The odd thing in this one is that there is no mystery really. A bunch of bugs are overpopulating...why? Ok...great. You don't even know what your looking for until the end pops out of left field and every thing is explained for you...oh yah the other thing...the end...

In most of these games the ends are really puzzling (how do i defeat this guy?) and gets your heart pumping and gets you thinking. This one? There are no bad guys. I won't give anything away for you but just trust me when i say the ending is horrible and comes way too fast (for avid fans of the franchise like myself, this ending is worse than Blackmoor Manor's).

The only thing about this game that kept me interested was switching from Frank to Nancy. That was a great new feature i thoroughly enjoyed.

One more thing i want to rant about...the puzzles...what puzzles? Every puzzle was either incredibly easy (and horribly boring) or just plain guesswork. I hate the guessing puzzles...

All in all...i give this game a 2 out of 5...i might've been more forgiving if i didn't expect so much more out of a Nancy Drew game. If your over the age of 10...i don't suggest buying this one.

The Creature of Kapu Cave
This is certainly one of the weakest games in the series. Since The Curse of Blackmoor Manor, which was heavily criticized for being too difficult, it seems that the designers at Her Interactive have decided to err in the other direction. The puzzles are overly easy, and require little or no deductive reasoning. They also tend to be centered on chores that you must complete to advance in the game, but that otherwise bring you no closer to solving the mystery. This becomes very tedious, very quickly.

The dialogue is limited and generally uninteresting, and, as in all the recent games, the game play is too short. Finally, despite the incessant talk about surfing and surfing lessons in the game, we are never given the opportunity hit the waves ourselves. Cruel joke, Her Interactive!

The graphics, however, are beautiful, as always.

Why bother? No comparison to other Nancy Drew games.
I was very disappointed with this game I have all but "Danger By Design" and this one I could have done without. There were no real puzzles in this game. You mostly ran around completing tasks for people. I gave it two stars for: the new GPS map, the cell phone switch, and the scenery. But as for the actual game play I give it 1 star.
