Date: 2008-01-18 Wild Tangent is a terrible software maker Be Ware of Wild Tangent. They sold us the boxed game but did not give us the unlock code for the software. We are still buying tokens to play the game even though we thought we purchase the boxed game. After many e-mails to the company, we are still unable to load the actual game on our PC!! Our son is very disappointed!
Date: 2008-01-15 Poor copy of Diablo I was very disappointed with Fate. It is basically Diablo rehashed. The controls aren't as smooth and when you get back to town you have to wonder all over to accomplish basically getting new quests and selling loot. I didn't find anything particularly worth while about the game, the pet is a twist but big whoop. Just another dungeon game.
The graphics are fine. The game seemed to run fine. I suppose if you liked Diablo but didn't care for the dark aspect of it, you may like Fate better. Seems more cheerful.
Date: 2008-01-12 Great fun with Fate! No problems with installing, etc. Good fun and hours of entertainment. Don't need CD after installing which is nice. Worth buying.
Date: 2007-12-31 If you play it for 15 minutes --- it's over. If you play this game for 15 minutes, (and a tryout version is probably sitting on your new computer right now), you will want to keep playing until you beat it and probably well beyond that. Ridiculously easy to get into but enough there to keep the interest of even an seasoned gamer. A casual guilty pleasure, I guess, in that it's not complex in the least.
Even so, most gamers will be sucked in by it's well thought out character building system. The player will make careful and satisfying investments in building up a character and in strengthening his/her equipment. This basic RPG element will become your obsession --- or your Fate, if you will.
Four different skill levels will make this accessible for almost everyone while the random levels will make the game a bit different each time out.
If you do decide to play make sure to download the free update pack to get even more options in weapons, armour, etc.
The Final Judgement: It's a good late-night-casual-laptop-while-you-watch-TV game.
Date: 2007-12-30 A WORTHY SUCCESSOR TO NOX!!! This game has been widely compared to the DIABLO series - and understandably so, I guess: any hack 'n' slash cRPG is bound to seem to have borrowed from the bestseller action-cRPG. Nevertheless, it bears more similarities to another great game: NOX.
This is a VERY GOOD game in every aspect: third person perspective with good camera placement; natural character movement; fun projectile physics; a transforming pet/sidekick with interesting abilities; tons of weapons and equipment to barter; good and crisply designed environments; and appropriate sounds and voices...It may not feature the deeper of story-lines or "official D&D dice" getting thrown in the background, but, without being a children's game, IT IS REALLY FUN!!!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
