Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 Review (continued)
More User Submitted Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 Reviews
Date: 2008-12-28 Microsoft Office Home & Student 2007 I purchased this product because it was required for a college course I am taking. It was easily installed and has worked great. I really only needed the Excel portion but have learned to really appreciate the Word program as well.
Date: 2008-12-28 Not useful This product destroys, rather than add to,programs I already had on my computer. After installing it I removed it,and I am not using it.
Date: 2008-12-28 Never received I never received my product from this vendor, nor did I receive an email back from them when I inquired about my order.
Date: 2008-12-27 New interface takes getting used to I was perplexed with opening the new fangled container box. However, I had help in figuring that out. The software's new interface differs from the 2003 version which I use at work. What I do not like is that "for non-commercial use" is branded at the top border of each of the various components, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. I don't know why Microsoft found it necessary to do that. I have Corel's WordPerfect X2 Office Suite Student edition on one of my computers and Corel did not choose to do that, nor did Microsoft in its prior student edition. Other than that, the new design is okay and reminds me somewhat of the Mac version on my Apple computer. I like some of the new features. However, I wish I could change the color of the border from blue to perhaps silver because I find the blue too vivid for my taste. I have no idea what OneNote is supposed to be for so I did not download it. It would have made more sense to have included Access instead of OneNote.
Date: 2008-12-27 A Lot of Hype: I have heard allot of hype over the new Windows Vista, both good and bad, mostly bad though as people warned me to stay away because of all the problems and glitches with this product. After using it for more than a month I cannot seem to find any major issues with Office 2007. The new "ribbon design" does take some getting used to, and it can be a little perplexing at times, but there is logic to its design. I would have to say my only major complaint, so far, is the office assistant is missing and I liked that feature, but that is not enough of a problem to bother me that badly. The negatives are far outweighed by some of the new features that have been added to Office 2007 that give your documents, spreadsheets and PowerPoint's a more professional look. If you are looking at this item to purchase just keep an open mind and do not carry any preconceived notions, manly be flexible and you will be fine. There is a learning curve to the new 2007 software but the helps feature does work and when that fails to answer your questions I have found some great videos done by Microsoft that you can watch online. So be bold and do not listen to all the hype as what it boils down to is, most people do not like change...
