Warchiefs Expansion
I really enjoyed the original game, that is what prompted me to buy this game. I really love the AGE OF EMPIRES games. I would recommend this game to everyone I know. It is also great for multiplayer. Though for this game you (once you install it) have to download a patch to play online. But that was easily done.

Just an average expansion pack
Note to Review up there: What ninjas?! There are no ninjas in this expansion pack!

Breaking no new ground with the base game, Age of Empires III: The WarChiefs continues on the path of breaking no new ground and treading the same waters in a formulaic way.

The expansion pack does little in the way of gameplay aside from adding a few new maps, a whole new campaign that continues the mediocre storyline of "I'M A DESCENDANT OF THAT GUY WHO FOUND THE FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH AND NOW I HAVE TO FIGHT EBIL BADDIEZ WHO WANT IT TOO HAHAHAHAA~!" rather than dealing with REAL and gritty historical things, like maybe, since it's based on Native Americans, that whole MANIFEST DESTINY and ATTEMPTED GENOCIDE thing? It's Rated T, not E.

One of my major complaints about the game, which only gets more ridiculous in this latter-era campaign, is the fact that units from different eras are not disabled or removed once you reach the next age. This means that in this campaign which takes place in the OLD WEST, post-American Civil War, in the 1870s or 1880s, you'll see your opponent with an army made up of Pikemen and Crossbowmen.

Crossbowmen. In the late 1800s.

No. Just, no.

Some minor new additions, but of course the big one is being able to play as Native American tribes. You get three choices: Sioux, Iroquois, and Aztecs, which I think is a great representation of different kinds of American Indians, except for the Sioux.

Except for the fact that the Iroquois have pretty much better everythings except cavalry, the Sioux and Iroquois are identical in almost every way. But while the Iroquois are balanced nicely, with strong Tomohawk infantry strong on horses, and Mantlets to act as very light siege units that en masse can deliver powerful blows on buildings, the Sioux are pretty much all cavalry and little else. They have NO siege equipment of ANY kind, unlike the Aztecs and Iroquois, and their infantry may as well not even be there for just how generic and useless they are. Until you get riflemen, you're better off not using Sioux infantry unless it's for base defense.

While the Iroquois are balanced and the Sioux madly weak, the Aztecs are grossly overpowered. Just about all their units are very fit and good against any kind of unit. Add to that that just about every building has an upgrade to deliver MORE units en masse for low cost, and by the time you've reached the middle of the Colonial Age, you've got TWO full armies (because each team can have 50 units within it) to assault an enemy base with, and Jaguar warriors are almost unstoppable against anything but archers or riflemen. Aztecs also have siege infantry in the form of Arrow Knights.

And so for a rather hefty price you get the "Brood War" equivalent to Age of Empires III: doesn't do much, but you wouldn't really want to play without it.

AWESOME!
I've been playing Aoe3 for a long time, and am exicted to get the Warchiefs ep. I am engrossed by the realistic graphics. Its worth many whistles.

Must Have Expansion!!
Wow! EA and MS do it again with this near full length expansion of Age of Empires III. Beautiful graphics, tons of chances to level up your home city and a followable storyline make this one of the best AoE yet!
