Gears 4 Sure
First I'm a big Halo fan, so I make a lot of comparisons. Now, this is the best third-person shooter out there. The graphics are insane, the story line is interesting, and the weapons are cool. The controls take a while to get used to, especially because the A button is used to jump, take cover, and step over obstacles. But once you get used to the controls, you'll have a lot of fun.

The whole damn game looks like a cut scene, and the cut scenes themelseves are just breathtaking. Unlike Halo, which made architecture look pretty and neat, Gear of War makes the maps look gritty and worn. The buildings are broken down and the designers put a lot of detail into making things look used and dilapidated. Halo also used a helmet to cover the main characters face, whereas Gears uses excellent detail on Marcus Phoenix and all the other characters as well.

The way you can take cover and blind fire or take aim is a cool feature of this game. The hammer of dawn is a satellite plasma cannon that is controlled by a laser you fire at your target. It's definitely the most powerful weapon in the game and probably the coolest.

The online play can't touch Halo's matchmaking, but nothing else can either. I still say it deserves five stars because it's that cool.

Overall Pretty Good Game
i think this is a pretty good game. its fun to play and so far it seems like the campaign can last u a cople of hours (i haven't finished the campaign yet). the only thing i think could be better is the multiplayer. only 8 people isn't as much fun as facing off 8 vs 8. i personally think the multiplayer is pretty good, BUT it has nothing compaired to games like halo 3 and call of duty 4. if you're just looking for something to keep youoccupied for a good while then this game is for you but if youre looking for a good mix of campaign and multiplayer then defenitly get halo or call of duty 4 but i still think this a good game to pick up.

Very fun to play, but lacking
I'll start by saying that I am a big Halo fan. Although a little short, this game was still pretty good. The online experience isn't that great either. I tried playing online for about a week before I got tired of being matched up with experts and routinely getting my butt whipped. I prefer to play against people of similar skill. This is a game that you should buy used.

Lots of Fun!
My Sister & I get together once every other month for a day/night of video game fun. We don't like the on line stuff or the "must have two TVs & system" stuff. We love the off-line shooter co-op games. We are over 30 and have such a great time shooting & figuring out puzzles within a game. Its more fun than just going around shooting stuff or at each other. Gears of War was a lot of fun to play and sometime challenging. If you are looking for a fun Off-line, co-op game, I suggest this game. We will definitely play this again. I hope this helps for someone who is looking for off-line games. I also suggest for X-Box 360; Rainbow Six Las Vegas 1 & 2! Have Fun!
