Supreme Commander Review (continued)

Date: 2007-07-08 awesome... if you can handle it This game is a huge scale RTS, with literally hundreds of units on screen at any given time. But, as you might have guessed, requires a computer system thats outrageous. My brand new computer (custom built, better than alienware) can only handle the full graphics if there is less than 400 units total... and i've seen games where there were 8000 units total. the only other drawback, I think, is there is no such thing as a "quick game" or supreme commander. even one on one games can last an hour. but if you can handle the power, this is the game for you/
Date: 2007-07-08 Huge dissapointment, wasted buying a super gaming computer This game is overhyped. Been playing RTS since Dune 2, Age of empires, StarCraft, etc. It's been such a long time since a good RTS came out, was expecting this game to be the game of all time.
Bought a super gaming computer, even a 2nd monitor, got the game, installed it, played for 30 minutes, then the DVD is now used for wall decoration, and the DVD box is used as a window stopper.
The good - 1. I now have a very powerful computer. 2. The DVD box was the perfect size to be used for my window stopper. Very sturdy made.
The bad - 1. 3 identical races. 2. Zoom in is pointless in actual playing, only good for seeing how powerful your computer is. 3. Story, well never got into it. The gameplay was so boring, couldn't even keep my attention span over 30 minutes. 4. Didn't even want to bother selling it back to a local retailer, don't want other gamers to get buy this junk. 5. typical Bad RTS - no strategy at all. Build up the units, attack, destroy all. Forget micormanage, forget counterunit, a bigger army always wins.
Date: 2007-07-01 Good, but could be better Interface is cool, but the could have done more w/ graphics. You can zoom way out to see your radar stations, but not really that far in. Units are very small. Over all game is pretty fun. Sci fi stragegy. Stays true to the genre.
Date: 2007-06-24 T. A. fans will be disappointed. Total Annihilation fans: this is not a new and improved version of T.A. I tried single player skirmish. The zoom viewing is pretty neat, but the maps are boring and their terrain, including graphics, is mediocre. The screen movement is jerky and the maps blur while you move across. The mini map is not as good as the T.A. one. The assignment lines showing unit routes are awkward and confusing. I was disappointed. It was a waste of money. No doubt there will be a lot of used ones for sale.
Date: 2007-06-07 Very Good The Campaign gets hard. I like it. This is very similar to "Total Annihilation". Improvements over T.A.: Mouse Wheel zooms in/out main map @ stratigic map (I don't know how we got along without this), larg maps, many units (my system typ. 500/side for 20x20 map, don't know max yet but more), good skirmish, good graphics (trees sway/fall/burn, waves roll into beaches). !!You Must Download two patches!! Then all is very cool. So, bad: Check syst req. (I'm good @ 2.53GHz P4, 1Gb, GeForce 7800GS some infrequent stutters, worse at faster playing speeds, but I like slower @ am just fine). I've not seen any Weather,Day/Night or deformable terrain.(In case you were currious). No Map Bookmarks(ie. map location hotkey)(Maybe later!?). Huge HD space (over 7Gb). Overall, if you liked "Total Annihilation" you will like this.
