Neverwinter Nights Diamond Review
User Submitted Neverwinter Nights Diamond Reviews
Date: 2010-03-07 NWN Diamond Excellent game. I also like playing the extra mods that are included. I was glad that in Shadows of Undrentide and Hordes of the Underdark your henchmen had an inventory that could be accessed.
Date: 2010-01-10 Neverwinter Diamond - a real "jewel" I had never played the original NWN when it was first released in 2002 or 2003, but I have always been a big fan of 3.0 D&D. This game is the closest thing on a computer to actually playing that pen and paper game. From choosing your race and class to skills and feats, it has that definite, true, classic D&D feel that many other games have tried to imitate. So what do you actually get? Not only do you get the original NWN but also the two quality expansions - Shadows of Undrentide and Hordes of the Underdark. . There are literally several hundred hours of game play just right there, but you also have access to all of the player-made content modules which makes for THOUSANDS of hours - literally endless game play time. If you are a fan of the Forgotten Realms, you will find names, places, and events familiar and interesting. It is now 2010 and I think this game still has a lot to offer now to new fans or even to those who have played it and want to come back for an amazing older rpg! The graphics are a little outdated but that is to be expected. It is the FUN that counts - and this game has it. The storyline will keep you interested and the game will offer you a great 3.0 D&D experience. Replayability is very high because you can create a new character with different race, class, feats, etc, etc, AND you can play online with others if you so desire (I just stick to the solo game - not enough time, you can quickly lose HOURS if not careful) I highly recommend it, one of the true classic RPG games of our time. For the price now, you can't go wrong. Have fun saving Neverwinter!
Date: 2009-12-13 Patching Fun What a great game. Even better because it will run nicely on older systems! Detailed, involved, and if you are a D&D freak, a good one to have in between gaming sessions. Highly recommended. One thing to bear in mind with this product, however, is that even though the box says "includes all patches", it doesn't. New patches have come out since Diamond was released. You will have to go to the BioWare website and download the v1.69HotU patch and run it after you install if you want to run it on Windows 7. I ordered 2 copies, one for me and one for my hubby (I'm running XP, he runs 7) and we had quite a bit of "fun" trying to get his to work so we could LAN. The 1.69 patch fixed that problem quite nicely. All in all, good product, great price.
Date: 2009-12-12 Nice game for nice price. This is really an old game, but for people who like "stories" in games like I do, this is it.
I first played the very first NWN version some time around 2002 I think, but I was too busy with schooling and I couldn't really afford to pay $50 out of my pocket to get the game and all the extensions thereafter (my monthly food bill was about $50~100 depending on if I completely run out of basic stuff to make food with or not).
But NOW I can afford it and I have time to play! And even with old graphics and such, it doesn't bother me AT ALL. The story line's intriguing (but then, I like reading all kinds of books anyway), and I love the fact that I can reload to play the part again if I mess up something... (just requires a lot of saving), and in a way, I'm one of those easy-to-please sort of gamer, so... yeah.
If anything, for THAT price, and the number of hours to enjoy if you do all the possible optional quests, it's worth it.
For those who only play specific genre of games: I love playing FF series on ps2 and xenosaga's, and also loved all the warcraft ones and Ragnarok, sim city, the sims1&2, etc. (I wasn't much fan of starcraft because the game's too fast paced for me a lot of times and zerglings look... disgusting). My husband who loves first person shooter games thought this game was a little tedious (like running around and taking forever to get to places) even if he does like games like gauntlet.
I'm thinking of trying Balder's Gate some time ^_^
Date: 2009-10-31 Oldie but Goody! I know that this game is considered one of the older RPG game, but I love it. I have had the standard Neverwinter Nights and played it several times. Getting this adds a lot more for me to do and lots more time to play. I love this game and even when I finally upgrade to 2 I will still keep this one installed. Very replayable with a different character. I know that many of the quests stay the same, but with a different class it keeps the replayability well. Arrived fast and in great shape!
