Star Wars Lego I: The Video Game Review (continued)

Date: 2008-02-22 Joe's opinion We had to buy a new GeForce video card. After that it worked ok except for some rendering problems that pop up sometimes when you change levels. In Dexter's cafe, you can buy new characters, weapons and Dexter cards to help you along the game. I almost have all the characters.
Date: 2008-02-22 Please help! Does this work with vista? We had problems loading this on our previous computer, but had a new cd sent to us and it worked. Now we have a new pc with vista and we cannot get this to work. My sons are very disappointed! We even just had a new disc sent out, but it does not work. After we load the game, it asks us to insert the orignal disc. We hit retry, etc. It just does not work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Just comment.... Thanks!
Date: 2008-02-17 Fun Game - Check compatability First of all if you bought the game and then realized that you did not have pixel shader support, try this before you toss the game:
1) run 3d-analyze 2) Go to select and find the star wars EXE file. (probably in program files) 3) check off "Emulate HW TnL Caps" 4) check off force pixel shading 1.1 5) click run
This worked for me and some others.
If I were to rate the game solely for what it is supposed to do, namely entertain young boys, I would give it 5 stars. The graphics are terrific and the game play is fun. It is easy enough for young kids to play ad there are enough hidden extras to make the game more exciting for more experienced players. As a parent I like the lack of gore in an action game. There are no bloody messes. Just broken Lego pieces.
I had to take off 2 stars because of the compatibility issues with the pixel shader. Yes I know the requirements state that you need a Video card with pixel shader support. However the average user has no idea what a video card is. Most people assume that thier brand new Dell will be able to play a game on the OS that it was designed for. This is true for %99 percent of games. I tried this game on 4 different PCs. One was two years old, one nine months old, and two barley a week old. It did not run on ANY of them without 3D-analyze. I think it is poor judgment to put out a game that cannot even be played on the newest computers.
Date: 2008-01-20 Some quirks. The game is a blast, but he PC version has some quirks/bugs in some of its levels of play. Not a big deal to my son, but a little frustrating to me.
Date: 2008-01-19 Lots of fun I purchased this game for my 14 yr old son for Christmas. He really likes it and says it is fun to play. He already had Lego Star Wars II, The original trilogy and says that it is better. But he enjoys both of them.
