Multiplayer Takes a Revolutionary Turn!
While the single player in Halo 2 is lacking and does not really compare to that of the original, the game play is still action packed. The creators kept the same game elements and using the idea of "if it ain't broke, leave it", the game turned out all for the better. The multiplayer, however, makes up for the lack of single player. WIth all new maps as well as the Xbox Live service, the game is hard to beat. A matchmaking system has been introduced that has never been seen before. Also, a complex ranking system has been created so you can see how well your doing on H2's site, bungie.net. The special edition box has a dvd with tons of info. However, if you are not an avid halo fan or interested in the making of the game, you should not waste your money on the special edition and just go for the original game. Also, the multiplayer experience is really only complete with Xbox Live service which is sold seperately!

Disappointed
Too short, too dark and dreary, too boring due to repetitive gameplay (and, what's with unloading 2 or 3 clips just to kill a baddie??? even when I'm shooting them in the head!?! then spend all your time looking for ammo, geez). I actually liked the cut scenes/story better than the play. The levels I liked the best were too short (on Earth, outside) and the others were a pain to get through due to unattractive/UGLY settings that ran for miles and miles and miles. And the Flood are just plain annoying. I want more realistic play with a greater variety of environments. It's that simple. Plus, I'd like immature idiots not to play on Xbox live.

Not nearly as good as the first
I loved Halo. I even got my friends hooked and they bought XBox's just for Halo. We stood in line to get this, and we are all dissapointed. The weapons are watered down, the campaign is dark and dreary, and the multiplayer is filled with bugs and glitches. On the bonus DVD, they keep saying over and over how they wish they had more time to do this or that. It is an unfinished, and very unpolished game. In multiplayer you can't just start a room with the map or game options that you want. Bungie has a "playlist". One is Team Slayer. You can't control how many people play, what map you play on, or even what weapons you use. One of the biggest gripes people have is that Bungie forces everyone to use the second weakest weapon in the game as their starting weapon. This makes for a lot of weapon whoring and just frustration on the part of a LOT of gamers. Not having a choice in what I want to play is a major downfall of this game. I don't see it having the legs that Halo had.

Expecting a lot more
This game is basically the same as the first on except they added a few more guns and now you can dual wield. Its really boring how its just the same relentless killing over and over again. What is the point? The story line was practically the same. Another ring you have to blow up because it will wipe out the entire inverse. The flood makes their apperence once again.
I wasnt too impressed with this game you should just rent it.

HOLY HALO! I can't stop playing!!
All right, I'm taking a break from the game to write this. OMG, I never thought I would flip over a game like I have for Halo 2. I never really liked shooter genre games. I was one of those skepticle people with a high level of reluctancy because a certain friend suggested I get it. He's made suggestions in the past that I wish he hadn't. But when I heard of some "HALO" parties he's attended, I figured I give it a try and peep what all the hype was about. I got a new Xbox solely to check out the Halo 2 special edition. Man, the hype is WELL deserved. Let me put it to you guys this way; I've been searching for Halo 2 T-shirts for a couple days since my experience with this game. I even bought the soundtrack because the music in the game is just cool. I'd give this game 10 stars if I could. If you haven't got this game yet, what are you waiting for? The graphics, the music, the game play, the multi-player console to console hook-up game play (two televisions needed), Xbox Live capabilities, and all the other pros. I can't stop playing it, and when it's done, I'm going to play it again. Halo 2 made me go buy Ghost Recon Island Thunder and Ghost Recon 2. I will get any other war or shooter genre type Xbox game because NOW I've grown fond of this stuff. The guys at Bungie hit the nail on the head. I just hope if there's a Halo 3, it'll be as good, if not BETTER! I just hope my PS2 doesn't feel rejected. Okay, gotta go play Halo 2 now.
