Silent Hunter III (DVD-ROM) Review (continued)
More User Submitted Silent Hunter III (DVD-ROM) Reviews
Date: 2007-02-24 Fun game but too many bugs The simulation is excellent and generally rewards the use of correct tactics. I would recommend some better options for crew management, like a "watchbill" function to make rotating crew stations easier.
But I've gotten completely tired of trying to tweak my computer to deal with the crashes. My attempts to contact [...].com have been futile (some sort of "unexpected error" which prevents me from logging in) and the responses on the community forum are generally snotty techno-weenie remarks in the vein of "the code is perfect so you must be an idiot". No, I'm just a customer. Or in this case former customer. If the product supports a given hardware set then I should be able to install it and run it without spending hours reconfiguring my computer. The other games I've installed have bugs but don't crash my computer--just SH3.
Date: 2007-01-16 A winner For those of us that remember how great Aces of the Deep was, and how much of a dissapointment Silent Hunter II was. Well, SH III is for you, it is an excellent game.
Date: 2007-01-09 Torpedo Hit! If you liked SH2, then you'll love this even more! The graphics are better, the sound is better, and the options I have yet to use all of them, even after weeks of playing. The only thing better than this game is what they are doing with the next one, American subs in the Pacific!
Date: 2007-01-03 CD PROBLEMS Shipment of the game was very quick. However, it would not load up on my computer. CD drive could not find the disk. Other games load fine so it has to be the game disk being defective. Return was requested and handled promptly.
Date: 2006-12-22 Great game, but not without its flaws. I'm not going to repeat how the game is played as others have done that. Basically It's the best sub game I've ever played. For anyone who remembers the old school Wolfpack, its pretty much a way more complex version of that. What I like: -I absoulutly love the ability to customize your boat and crew. -Can be played either on basic, or extremely complex difficulty, and everything inbetween. -Graphics are pretty decent
Now to what I dont like: -If played from the very beginning, it can be quite repetitive and monotnous twards the end. -Way too many glitches and bugs to count(including random game crashes) personally UBISOFT's games are never very stable. -I hate how you build up an elite sub and crew, only to have the game abrubtly end in may of 1945. You cant even use your uber-sub in multiplayer or single mission.
However overall I still love it. Best sub game I've played
