Date: 2004-02-19 It's Good, but not THAT Good This MarioKart game proposes a new twist to the already famous game. Although there are many flaws, it is enjoyable and fresh. Now there are two people in each kart, one to drive, one to throw items. This is a good idea, and it brings about a revolution in Mario racing games. ~Before I say any more, everyone seems to love this game even before they even buy it, and it IS pretty fun, but I don't see why there are so many people so obsessed with it. -Double Dash introduces new ideas to the Mario racing games. Among the obvious two player feature, each character has a special item, and a different weight. If both characters you have chosen are light, then the kart must be a lightweight, therefore making it a fast accelerator, yet slow top-speeds, and is weak, thus reducing hitting power. The medium karts... are, well, medium in every way, as usual, and the heavy karts are slow accelerators, but have great top-speeds and are very strong. Also if you press 'A' when the light is green, you can get a boost, but with two-player, if both do it, it is a Double-Dash, hence the name. Most of these are good ideas, making the game even better. -There is also the battle stage, in which people may play different kart games, without racing, including a balloon-popping fight, a battle with bombs, and stealing the sprite. The fun-ness of the battle stage seems to have decreased a bit, though. -This is a fun game for all ages, because the controls are easy to use, and the gameplay is great. However, the game may get a bit boring after a while, because it might be a little too easy for some parts, and too hard in others, and after you get the karts, the two new characters, the two new stages, mirror-mode, and the Special Cup, it does get redundant. Now I know that this sounds like a lot to keep you busy, but believe me, however great this game is, there isn't much to do. The karts don't really make a difference either, there are many, but personally, I don't care which one I choose, it won't make that much of a difference. -Graphics are good, but not great. Compared to the other MarioKart games it's a bit better, but there isn't too much of a difference. -The sound isn't annoying, but there is not much variety of music. -The Bonus disk is a fun little side-thing. It's pretty cool. You can checkout demos of Sonic Heroes, Star Wars something, MarioParty 5, F-Zero GX, and my all time favorite - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which I think is hilarious that they put it on there. You can also watch some previews and bonus items. ---Overall, this game is not really near perfection, but is very fun for many people for quite a while.

Date: 2004-02-04 Mario Kart Double Dash w/Bonus Disc Review This is an awesome game. It is the only racing game I like , so this is a good game to have even if you don't typically like racing games. The only problem I had with it is that it is exactly like every other Mario Kart game. If you have any of the other ones then play that and don't waste your money.
Date: 2004-01-31 The Next Entry in the Mario Kart Series I was always a fan of Mario Kart games, and when I heard the GameCube version was coming out, you could imagine that I was pretty excited. I received this game as a gift (coupled with the bonus disc), and yes, I'm content with it, but overall, it just didn't impress me the same way the N64 version did. However, this is still a fun game that has a lot of cool things going for it, and it's especially a blast at large gatherings. Graphics: The standard Mario Kart style. However, they seem a little bit more cartoonish than in the 64 version. The backgrounds are very nice and have cool details as well. 8.5/10 Control: Very similar to the N64 version, driving-wise, if you've played that before you should pick it up easily. Even if you're new to the MK series (and also with the addition of the second driver), the controls are intuitive and simple. 9.25/10 Gameplay: This is where I find MK:DD lacking a little bit behind MK64. While it is cool having a teammate on your team, it can often be a disadvantage when playing with another person, or even when you're alone, having to control a lot of things. It's usually not a hassle, but there are always a few moments where you're longing for the N64 gameplay. 8/10 Sound: The music is cute and upbeat, typical Mario style. The sound effects are also interesting. 8.75/10 Satisfaction: Overall, you will have fun playing this game. However, the amount of time you put into this game will be based on how much you enjoy it, and sadly, for some people, that doesn't warrant more than a rent. If you enjoyed Mario Kart 64, there's a very good chance you will enjoy Double Dash as well. 9/10 Overall, Mario Kart: Double Dash!! is worth at least a rent, and if you decide to buy it, you get this bonus demo disc included. Most of the games are available for sale now, so if you find one to your liking, you should be able to find it at most places. I hope my review was helpful, and happy gaming!
