How can you not enjoy this game?!
An already great game has been made portable and has extras! This game is awesome! The story is that Princess Peach has been kidnapped again, by Bowser and his 7 kids. Mario must go through 8 worlds to rescue the Princess and save the Mushroom Kingdom. Each world is harder than the last(Pipe Land may be an exception though). The worlds go in this order:

Grass Land
Desert Land
Water Land
Giant Land
Sky Land
Ice Land
Pipe Land
Dark Land

The levels range from rediculously easy to downright evil. The enemies are very diverse, and often match the world they are in perfectly. Get this game, along with New Super Mario Bros. as well.

The Best
This to me is by far the best Mario Brothers game they've come out with. I remember when it first came out and playing this thing through Junior High. I've pretty much forgotten about this thing (not completely though) when I saw my young cousin playing the game on her Gameboy Advanced. I played a few minutes and I've found I'm hooked once again.

This is worth it guys! :)

Could it be the worst?
Out of all the "Super Mario Bros" games I would have this is the worst of them all. Fighting the koopa kids sometime takes about 10-15 times and those airships are just plain dumb. The best parts about this game is the special items you can get like the froggy item. The enimies are the same but some i can't stand "Micro Goomnbas In Box" they're just plain stupid and "Man Eating Cheep-Cheep" thats just wrong. I would still recomend it but beware you will get mad!

the coolest video game of all time!
super mario bros. 3 is the better than 1 and 2 because it has a map you can actually move around on, go to toads house, fight hammer brothers, and you can also go through 8 kingdoms, or, retrieve a warping whistle from the mini fortress or mini world 3, both in world 1. this whistle enables you to go from world 1 to any other world. world 8 is obviosly the hardest-I never have got through it. there are 8 mini worlds in world 8. I've never gotten past dark world. this is a definite must play-for both kids and adults. I would rate this at *****.
