Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004: A Century of Flight Review (continued)

Date: 2008-02-02 What's Going On Here? I bought this flight sim from Amazon, and I really like it, in fact, it is a marvel what such a small amount of money will buy. I've had a lot of time in military airplanes as a crew member, and I have 300 hrs as a private pilot in the C152, C172, C182's, C210, and P-Arrow. I stopped flying due to a lapsed medical, so I was looking for an outlet. I find the flight sim landings to be quite realistic. One good thing is you can replay each landing to review how you managed your airspeed, rate of descent, and flight attitude. At first I had some problems running the program on my computer, so I installed a better graphics card, and that helped. But, when I try to move from one program module to another the program just disappears, and it takes several tries and/or computer reboots to get going again--I can't figure this out. I intend to install more computer memory, but I really doubt that this is the problem. In short, this is a great flight sim for the money, but I wonder who can run it without these irritations? I will keep this going as I really don't know that there is anything that runs better.
Date: 2008-02-02 Still Better than FSX Smooth graphics, realistic airplanes, realistic NAVAIDS, flies like the real thing (I am a Private Pilot of 25 years). For a great at-home way to practice VOR holds and other IFR procedures, Flight Simulator (combined with a good quality yoke and pedals) still reigns. I own FSX too, even on my brand new dual processor high end machine, FSX still is a crummy sim compared to it's predecessor.
Date: 2008-01-24 Fun for beginner I bought this game for my father. He always wanted to be a pilot and has really enjoyed this game. It is perfect for someone who is just getting started. I am thrilled that he is enjoying this so much.
Date: 2008-01-08 Flight Sim in the Southern Caribbean I am a FS 98 owner. Upgrading to 2004 was absolutely fantastic. I flew from Trinidad through the caribbean. Absolutely spectacular!!!

Date: 2008-01-01 Enjoyable I bought the flight simulator for myself but once I showed it to my husband, I lost the use of my laptop. He went from a man who had never seen a use for a computer to one who will sit for hours looking for the correct runway to land his plane. Neither of us are very good pilots though, using the handy controls for the game, everything is toned down for a beginner. It's one thing to fly a plane but to allow wind currents and traffic, weather, and the threat of running out of fuel affect it, let's put it this way, this is a game a novice can enjoy as well as those who are experienced in flying. I like it!
