Xbox Action Replay Review (continued)

Date: 2004-04-25 BAD purchace My son bought this game expecting it's operation to be the same as the PS2 version in that it is the "ultimate cheat" system. Well, surprise, no actual cheat codes, just access to already-played games as a download from the internet. The packaging was most misleading, and frankly, I believe it was intended to deceive customers. Too bad there is little one can do to software companies who promise much and deliver very little. (My son's words: It sucked and was a waste of money). Used to be a time when honesty was considered a virtue. I guess one has to have faith in karma.
Date: 2004-03-22 dislikeschores is wrong.... This thing would be an easy 5 stars except there is far more of a problem then just 1 out of 50. NO ONE I know can get the included mem card to work. It is junk. Fortunatly most people CAN get it to work with an Official Microsoft Xbox mem card. It's not supposed to though, and I cannot get it to myself. Beware of this product. dislikeschores says if you bought it after 2004, you'd be ok... Wrong. I know quite a few people that bought it just recently (march), and it still is bad. I would suggest a Game Saves device instead, but no one uses it, and there are very few saves.Since this seems to be the only option, make sure you buy it somewhere that they won't give you fits for returning it... Once you get it working, it sounds to be a great product. It's just getting to that point that sucks...
Date: 2004-03-04 This is a useable product Alot of people are not able to use this because the action replay folks are terrible with customer service. There website is the slowest I've ever found. But the thing works, you can find saved games elsewhere (like gamefaqs.com), and after reading this you shouldn't need the customer service. Goto gamefaqs.com or some other site to get the saved game zip file. Don't extract this file! Simply open the ActionReplay Xbox program and drag the zip file onto the memory card. That's it. The only thing you need to worry about is being one of those 1/50 people who bought a bad shipment of cards. If you purchased this after 2004, you don't have a problem.
Date: 2004-03-04 DO NOT GET UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!! I am an avid player of XB Live and can tell you from experience that it is the most aggravating thing to be killed by a person who buys skill. ONLY THOSE WITH THE LOWEST MORAL FIBER AND INTEGRITY WOULD DO THIS! On the issue of non-XB Live things, that's your own thing BUT PLEASE!! Use this only for in game stuff and keep the cheating out of the On-Line Community. I can only hope that Ubi and the other companies with online games will create a counter to this Replay deal. Until then, the only possibility of this cheating and lack of integrity is the person themselves.
Date: 2004-02-13 MAN how frustrating... BUYER BEWARE. This thing could be useful, if it WORKED. Just a little background on why I bought it, then what happened: I was at about 70% on Grand Theft Auto, and was sick of looking for "hidden packages" and such. I wanted 100%. so i order this thing. when i get it, I immediately try it out. I install the software and the Docking Station (the transfer device that you plug the given 8mb card into)
I insert the provided 8mb xbox memory card. Then transfer the GTA VC 100% save. Take the card to my Xbox and stuff it into a controller. transfer it to the Xbox's hard-drive (like an idiot) overwriting my game on the hard drive. try to play the game... guess what... my save file is damaged...
I spent 2 hours un/re-installing, trying different controllers, trying any concievable method to get this thing working... if only i have visited codejunkies.com's forums FIRST... In the Xbox section, almost EVERY topic is about how it DOES NOT WORK.
Their suggestion is to send Datel your memory card, and they will replace it "free of charge" .... but where's the compensation for shipping on my end? .... where's the compensation for me waiting another 2 to 4 weeks to even USE this thing? why is it standard practice to have to ship a BRAND NEW product out for repair? why was there no recall since they KNOW these cards are faulty?...
The questions regarding their methods are endless. My advice, don't be an idiot like me, research a little deeper before even thinking about buying this "product".
