Date: 2006-06-30 Choose your path? I've seen people love this game and hate this game, either there not a star wars fan or they hate the battle system. I myself love star wars and the battle sysetm in this game.
The battle system is simple yet fun at the same time. You and however many party members you have attack then your enemy attacks. At first you will hate it or think it's slow but as the game progresses you get many mmore attacks and defenses and will get more involved. The music is Star Wars. New and old music that everyone will love. The story as someone said in their review is worthy of being the script of a film. The story is what won this game awards. It also completely changes weather you follow the dark or light. The characters your with you come to love and you can talk to them whenever and they have a large wealth and background info to uncover. The voice acting is also well put together and ingages you more down the path of realism.
I would overall rate this game a 9.7 out of 10 When adding the flaws and good side. This would be on my top 3 games of all time.
Pros - Engaging and very great story. - Great voice work - Splended music - Star Wars fans will fall in love - Large explorable worlds - Great combat, many weapons and custamizable weapons. - Long story, game ranges from 20 - 35 hours long. { It took me 26 my first time and my longest 33 - depending on all the side missions you do}
Cons - Graphics most of the time are fuzzy {unless your playing it on 360}. - Very, very, very slow load times - I have beat the game 12 times, 5 dark, 7 light and after you have played through the story on both sides at least twice {4 total} it will get old after you know the story. - People say that it freezes often, mine hasn't ever but the framerate has slowed down during a large battle.
Overall, I hope my review was helpfull and I believe the game is $20 now and thats great for a game this good.
Date: 2006-06-29 Great Game This game is a very good one. I would highly recommend it to any Star Wars fan. This is the kind of game that gets people who kind of like Star Wars or don't like it at all to start liking it. This game is a combination of many genres. Action, adventure, mystery, and romance. This game is good enough to be better than the sequel. It makes a much larger impact on the Star Wars universe as a whole. You start out as a person who is on a battleship that is being attacked and has no clue what they're doing there. Through help from your companions and going from planet to planet, your mysterious past unfolds ending in a shocking discovery. There are many weapons in this game ranging from simple blasters to powerful lightsabers. You can buy new and improved weapons and armor or upgrade your current ones. You have nine companions that you can have in your party. Each of them with a colorful past just waiting to be unfolded by you. I would bet that most people would not be able to stop playing once they started. What you do in this game shapes the events of the entire galaxy! Follow the path of dark side or light side. Each one will lead to a different ending. But believe me, all of them are shocking and make you want to get the sequel right then and there. Everything you do or say can influence the path you take. For better or for worse. You can become a Jedi Consular, one who is srong in the force but lacks a little in lightsaber combat, a Jedi Guardian, highly skilled with a lightsaber yet not as adept in the force. Or a Jedi Sentinal, a combination of the two. Each of them opens up new possabilities. Interact with different creatures and species such as Wookies and Twileks. Travel to many different planets such as Tatooine and Kashyyk. Learn the secrets that changed the Star Wars universe!
Date: 2006-06-20 No idea what RPG means I could careless about 1st person view, graphic, sounds, etc... I was just looking for another Star Wars game to add to my collection --Battlefront I & II, Lego star wars, episode III and after reading the great reviews about knight of republic I bought it and it is nothing like I thought it would be...
When you encounter an enemy, it is not like other games where you hit A or the X button a bunch of time until they die. In this game when you see an enemy the screen will freeze and you have to pick the attack you want to perform and the order you want to perform it. And after you make your selection you can actually put the controller down--really don't touch it-- and your person will kill the enemy all on its own while you watch, which sounds easy until you get higher up in the game. If you don't pick the right action your dead in seconds. If you are use to knowing that you failed at killing the enemy just because you didn't hit my A button enough times. Then with this game you won't be disappointed if you failed it's because you didn't use the right weapon or you didn't load the right armor or you should have picked different actions...... there are endless reasons.
There are so Many menu, so Many option, so Many things you have to change, adjust, upgrade which I know other people just love. But I don't spend hours on ended playing video games, so it's a little tough on me finding the time to fininsh it, because with this game you need at least 4 hours just figuring out the menus.
One good thing about this game you really do have to use your Mind, if your looking for a game where you just walk forward and kill something this is Not it. If your looking for a game that requires you to read, make choices and will consume hours out of your day because it will take forever figuring out what to do next, then this is the game you want!!
Date: 2006-06-06 Great Game KOTOR is a great new chapter in the growing Star Wars Universe. This game offers more than just killing, it gives you the chance to live as a Jedi. You solve problems, help others, determine the fate of the galaxy, and battle with the constant lure of the Dark Side. The game breaks free of the binds of Star Wars and creates a whole new story with a new history, but in the same Star Wars Universe we all know and love. The Game does take a while to get going. You are immediately thrown into action, but after that it takes a while before it seems like anything is happening. When you are able to move off of the first level the game grows into one of the most absorbing and thought provoking Star Wars games out on the market.
Date: 2006-06-03 This game is fun but sort of confusing Though I like this game a lot I found that it is much better on the computer. Because of the keyboard the computer version has more freedom and doesn't have to fit all the controls on a xbox controller. So if you have a computer and xbox and want this game go for the pc version.
