Still worth the money
The NES was Nintendo's first forray into the video game market and was wildly succesful. Boasting such franchise starting games as Super Mario Brothers, The Legend Of Zelda, Dragon Warrior, Gauntlet, Metroid, Metal Gear, Castlevania, and Mega Man; the system is the true origin of modern gaming. While the graphic capabilities of the system are somewhat lacking, they are in color and they do not hurt my eyes (played any PS1 games lately?). The NES also introduced the light gun to the market creating a new genre of games with Duck Hunt, and the multiplayer support is excellent. A testiment to the NES's greatness is that Nintendo is now reprinting its games as hidden extras and e-Reader cards. While the system is no longer being mass produced, it is well worth every gamer's time to pick up a used console and some classic games; especially at the current prices.

Back in the day...
Ahh, the system that started it all for me, and millions of others on the tail end of "Generation-X". My parents thought they had bought a Pandora's box home, but parents of a future, more enlightened age will see video games in a better light - they are as stimulating for the mind as books are even if they don't impart as much historical information or wisdom.

What more can be said about the classic 8-bit system? It is still fun to play, for starters, and for an old guy of 26 like me, having to keep track of a mere 2 controller buttons instead of the 50 or so on gamecube or xbox is pleasing.

Little kids might be able to kick my --- in Halo but I'll beat Super Mario Bros in 1/4 the time of any of those whippersnappers.

Better Than All The New Systems
I like the original nes better than gamecube 'cause in my opinion
gamecube is boring anyway the nes might not have like the best graphics but its got the best games like super mario bros. Kirby..Now I hate when people say graphics make a game thats a stupidest thing I ever heard in my opinion better graphics make a game more boring cause its only focesing on that and not the actual gameplay. And I also like how nes doesn't have like a billion buttons its got a control pad A and B Start and Select thats it.The only down side is thatthe screen could keep flashing and the games may freeze on u.You really gotta buy this system its the funnest one outta Xbox ps2 and gamecube!!!

Best ever of all time anywhere.
The original NES is like I stated above: The best ever of all time anywhere. Nowadays, gamemakers worry too much about graphics and storylines to get down to what it's really all about: How fun it is. Take the NES classic "Super Mario Bros./ Duck hunt". What funner game have you ever played? sure, the NES doesn't have great graphics or storylines and the sound quality isn't exactly like going to a theater but it has the funnest games ever. Plus it's got that retro value. Nobody should miss out on this.Better than Xbox, gamecube, or PS2.
