Date: 2006-01-17 BUY THE REVOLUTION The nintendo Revolution will be backward campatable through the nes games of the '80s so why would you waste your money on this? In with the new out with the old.
Date: 2006-01-08 out-dated entertainment lets face it,new technology replaces old technology. its like a ford model-T. its good for car shows and museums, but not serious driving. the same can be said for the NES system. a reconditioned NES can sell for almost 200.00 ?? you have to be on drugs to pay that much (i dont care how many games are included ).....and a special thanx to the 18 hose-heads that disagree with me.
Date: 2006-01-04 sweetNESs After the video game crash of '83, many retailers and electronic manufacturers left the home video game market for dead, but a Japanese company called Nintendo saw an opportunity and took advantage of it.
Perhaps the greatest NES innovation was its streamlined, compact controllers, boasting four buttons (including Start and Select) and the first modern, eight-way directional pad (instead of a joystick). These comfortable controllers proved very durable and well suited to long playing sessions.
The NES boasts an absolutely HUGE library of games, including numerous classics like Contra, Metroid, Legend of Zelda, Castlevania, and of course the Super Mario Bros series. With its bright graphics and fast gameplay, the system excelled in practically every style of video game, from sports to arcade to RPGs. Although the system had its share of old standards like Pac-Man and Galaga, many titles were innovative and pushed the limits of 2D gameplay. It's also interesting to note that Nintendo closely controlled third-party game developers by reserving the right to manufacture the cartridges for the system (hence the Nintendo "seal of quality").
All in all, this system was un-falcon-believable when it came out. Pay homage to the roots and play one today!
Date: 2005-11-29 Rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got this system when I was 5 years old at a yard sale for $10 along with the gun zapper thingy and about 15 games.By far my favorites were Super Mario,Super Mario 3,duckhunt and others. The controller isn't very comfortable though being a plastic rectangle(Nintendo corrected this for the SNES)but the controlls are very simple, just a directional pad, start, select, and A,B buttons.Great system.
Date: 2005-11-28 The most revolutionary video game system ever created With the fall of video game kings Atari, the future of home console gaming wasn't very bright upon the release of Nintendo's NES system. However, the NES would soon prove to be the most revolutionary video game system of all time, thanks to a slew of quality first party games that would have overaching legacies, and possibly the best third party support until the release of Sony's original Playstation. There are so many great games that were made for the NES, and it's simply designed controlers and the Zapper Light Gun prepheril were ahead of their time. Younger gamers today more used to the unbelievable graphics of the XBox or PS2 will balk at the simplistic 8-bit presentation of the NES, but for the rest of us who owned an NES during our childhood will remember just how revolutionary and amazing it was in it's day. Nintendo's Super NES would be the only system they'd ever make that would top the original NES, and this system stands as a landmark in gaming. Below is a list of essential titles for the NES:
Super Mario Bros. 1, 2, & 3 Contra Duck Hunt Tetris Final Fantasy The Legend of Zelda Castlevania Mike Tyson's Punch Out Metroid Golgo 13: Top Secret Episode Baseball Stars Mega Man
