Gamers ed!
No doubt that this game rocks. There are a couple of problems however. Unlike the metal slug games, not so hardcore fighting fans will not enjoy this game as much. Its a great game for fighting game fans but other players may not find it as great.

This is one of the best purchases I ever made!
This is by far what I have been waiting for. I was always careful with buying fighters on handhelds. I played killer instinct on gameboy and that was far from the game I loved. Since then I never purchased any fighters on anything less that 32 bits. Until I played my friends neo geo pocket. Right when the opening animation started I was hooked, and a week later I bought my own and my own Match of the Millenium. Its surprisingly novel even if you have any other Street Fighter alpha-like games. The mini games are fun and earning all those secret charaters never gets boring. I never like writing these reviews but I just have to talk about how fantastic this game is. This is definately a must-have for anyone with a neo geo pocket. get it now!

WOW
Im a pretty serious gamer, and thats why i avoided the hype and got a neo geo ocket color instead of gameboy.Anyways, this game wowed me.I am a fan of all things street fighter, and like fatal fur, and this game amazed me.Even after i have been playing the psx versions of alpha and fatal fury, this game is impressive.Unlike other handheld fighting games, the control and response is excellent. The moves, even the super combos(street fighter fans will feel right at home here) are easy to do.The cpu is challenging(not too hard) and now lets get to the grpahics. The graphics are superp, top notch for a handheld. The moves and super combos look great. The characters are distinctive as well.So hows the gameplay overall?Well any console fighting fan will rejoice because this game has all the depth to make you keep coming back for more.Tag team modes, tourneys, and even a thing called olympic mode where you can earn points to do new moves for each character!Get this one.WOW!

The best handheld fighter of all time.
First off, I must say that this game is the best handheld fighter ever, and competes well with many console fighters. You select any of 13 (4 of which are secret) characters from the Capcom universe or from 13 (4 of which are secret) characters from the SNK universe, for a total of 26 different characters! You can even select your character's fighting style! Choose average for "all-around" playability, Rush for chain-combos or counter for slower paced tactics. On top of that, you can take part in one on one fights, tag-team, or three on three! Those alone could have sold it for me. But there is much, much more to this game. There are four modes of play. You have the standard Tourney, where you choose your character and fight through CPU opponents as a strange story takes place. There is a good training mode with lots of options (unfortunately, there is no move list). The game supports the Link Cable (sold here for $11.99), so you can battle it out with a friend in VS mode. Lastly, the feature that makes this game so great, Olympic mode. This being the "Match of the Millenium", you wouldn't think that SNK would leave it at just a standard one on one, would you? Well the Olympics are a set of events that characters can compete in. Each team has two unique events and three general ones. Capcom's unique events are Cat Walk and Ghost Trick. In Cat Walk you are Felicia of Darkstalkers, and you are competing in a dance contest not unlike Dance Dance Revolution. You assume the role of Arthur from Ghost 'n Goblins in Ghost Trick. Arthur must jump from platform to platform while avoiding the gargoyle and collecting gold. SNK's unique events are Blade Arts and Target 9. You control Jubei Yagyu of Samurai Showdown in a dummy slicing-fest in Blade Arts. And in Target 9 you must eliminate the Mars people with Marco Rossi of Metal Slug. The general events are survival, time attack, and first blast. All three are your simple fighting challenges. In survival you take on 100 opponents with one life bar that refills a little bit after each fight. In time attack you must defeat five enemies as quickly as possible. And in first blast, you must win 10 sudden death (one hit to win) fights. Now, you may ask, "Why should I compete in these events?" Well completing the events gives you "versus". Completing an event with a good time or score can earn you medals and in turn more versus. What are versus? Versus are a form of "currency" in MOTM. When you have enough versus points, you can "buy" a special Super Impact Blast for each and every character. The moves range in price from 4000 to 9999 points. Once you buy the move, you can use it in any part of the game! It is especially fun to use these moves against unsuspecting friends in VS mode. Aside from the 4 modes of play, MOTM supports a variety of other things. You can link up to the Sega Dreamcast via the SNK NEOGEO/Dreamcast Link Cable (sold here for $20.99) and exchange data with the Dreamcast version of SNK vs. Capcom (tentative title, unconfirmed release date) or King of Fighters: Dream Match 1999. You can also link the another great NGPC game, SNK vs. Capcom: Cardfighter's Clash. The link lets you unlock bonuses for having a certain amount of your deck completed in Cardfighter's Clash. Another small but cool feature is Entry. With Entry you can customize your favorite characters to a degree. You pick your fighter, choose their background music, and enter in your own win line. That is especially fun when playing a friend. Or make your own tag-team or three-man team. You can make up a name for them if you wish. The graphics and animation are much like most of the fighters on the NGPC, which is good. The characters are "super-deformed", which means that they all have large heads, hands, and feet. You may notice that the screen has two black bars on top and bottom. In addition to making it easier to see your life bar, these condense the window size, making the game run smoother. All in all, animations are good, and the moves you know and love are reproduced faithfully. The only downside to the graphics is that the characters only have about four colors in their sprite. However, the vibrant backgrounds make up for this. Sounds, while nothing extraordinary, get the job done. You'll hear a satisfying "thud" when a punch or kick connects. Each character's theme song has also been done well. Well, I could go on and on about this game. There are lots of little details that seem pointless to write about, but really improve the overall quality of this fine title. This was a labor of love for SNK and it shows. Thank you, SNK!
