It's a crime that a company like this is fading away...
Fighting fans, our time has come! Introducing SNK Vs. Capcom: Match of the Millenium! This is how fighting should be done. With a slew of gaming modes, a large roster of fighters, and an insane amount of special attacks and stratagies, SNK Vs. Capcom delivers on every catagory... and then some!

This game may very well change what you expect from fighting games, if not all games. Let's start with the basics. Nothing new to fighting fans is the Tourney mode, similar to the more commonly known "Arcade mode", where you fight a series a story-driven matches against the computer. This is where you'll do most of your fighting. What IS new is the number of ways you can choose to battle it out!

First up are the fighting modes, similar to the "Grooves" found in Capcom's rendition of the game. These affect what abilities are available to you and how you perform your Super Combos, attacks that inflict massive damage on an opponent. There are three differant types, each with their strengths and weaknesses: Average, Counter, and Rush. Master these techniques and find out which one is right for you!

Now for the actual game modes. There are three of these as well. Keep in mind, we're still talking about the Tourney! Single, where you fight one on one battles. Whoever wins the most bouts will be victorious. Tag Mode, where you choose a team of two fighters. You can "Tag" each fight in and out. The reserve fighter even restores their health while they wait to be tagged in! Finally, there's Team Mode, not to be confused with Tag Mode. You pick three fighters, but you can't switch them out until they are defeated. This Mode is reminiscant of SNK's King of Fighters series. Choose your line-up wisely.

Unsure of what you're doing? Try the Sparring mode to unlock your characters strengths and weaknesses. Find how your characters work and what their moves do, and apply them to a rel situation by setting the AI to attack! Find your ultimate stratagy!

After you're gotten used to battling it out (and hopefully, found some favorite characters), you should try the Olympic Mode, a series of Mini games you can compete in to try for high scores! Talk to your manager to gain advice needed to win! There are so many differant events, I'd never be able to list them all. There is almost infinite replay within this game.

Obviously, the gameplay holds its own and breaks new ground. But how is everything else like say, the sound? Another strong suit this game has to offer is its fine music and adaquate sound effects, making the battle as fun to listen to as it is to play.

Now, the graphics. Some fighting veterans may sneer at the pint-sized, anime-like counterparts of their favorite characters shown in this game, but when you see how well they animate and how smooth the action is, you'll appreciate the Neo Geo's rendition on them. Graphics, on the whole, are solid and likable. Another plus.

Precise and easy to handle control in a fighting game is highly important, and this game is no exception. Thankfully, the controls are dead-on in SNK Vs. Capcom. The Neo Geo's joystick is slightly irritating, and may lead to errors in the beginning, but after getting used to it, you'll pull off awesome moves in no time. The buttons themselves are responsive and accurate, though Game Boy users may constantly forget the "A" and "B" buttons are reversed...

Overall, SNK Vs. Capcom offers an experiance that shouldn't be missed. Fighting game fans, this is THE handheld game to own. Fans of games in general, try this one out, it may breed some interest in one of gaming's most entertaining and enjoyable genres.

SNK, my cap is tipped to you. It's a shame game companys can't all put the love and care you do into your games, and your hardware. It was no one's fault but the gaming public's that the Neo Geo hasn't dominated the handheld gaming market, as it should have.

Capcom, take notes.

The best portable fighting game ever!
This game alone is reason enough to buy a Neo Geo Pocket Color! Nice sound, good graphics, great gameplay, and amazing lastability makes for a thrilling experience well worth the money. Buy this if you' re at all interested in video games. Just make sure you don' t run out of batteries; it's amazing how quickly the hours go by with great games such as this one.

best handheld fighter ever!!
if you are a 2d fighter fan and want a good one for a handheld system, look no further. this is without a doubt the best fighting game ever for any portable.it has snk and capcom characters fighting in a 2 on 2 x-men vs streetfighter type style. it has some of the best character graphics and backgrounds for a portable. you pick 2 people from snk or capcom and fight it out with the computer until the last battle against a team-up of bison and geese. you can even switch instantly between your characters, unlike th... versions of the playstation. anyway, if you want a cool handheld, i strongly reccomend the neo geo pocket. it's got a better concentration of great games than the gameboy.it's too bad snk broke of ties with the US, so no games are available in retail stores anymore, but you can find them on auction sites..., get this game. you will not be dissapointed....

snk vs capcom match of the millenium
this game is by far the best pocket console game ever. with 13 characters for each company and great mini games like one that mimics ghost and ghouls and another that mimics dance dance revolution. The fightiing system is also great with three on three or tag team battle. The fighting mechanics are more similar to capcom fighters than snk and the animation especialy in the backrounds are incredible. The link compatiblity makes for more fun as you play with a friend. All and all this is the finest fighter for a portable system.

Excellent Fighting Game
This is truly one of the best fighting games NEO GEO has released. It has great graphics and sound, but it can be a little bit more hardcore. Has original characters from many fighting series such as Street Fighter, Samurai Showdown, Fatal Fury, King of Fighters, Last Blade, and Darkstalkers. Many features included, such as Olympic, where you can break records and get hidden moves. The only thing is missing is my favorite Samurai Showdown character... GENKUDO.
