Best FF ever!
I have playd and beaten every final fantasy out with the exceptions of the original III (which we didnt get here in the u.s.) and five becuase the copy I had was thrown away...long story.
Out of all the final fantasys VIII is and always will be my favorite. I fell in love with the game instanently...Hey I was what, 11? and being an 11 year old girl who loves video games and anime, I fell in love with -of course- the handsome male characters. But thats besides the point.
I have playd and replayd this game so many times that I have lost count. The story is like a well written book, it grips you, you get attached to the characters, you get angry, sad, you even fall in love right along with them, and who doesnt like a some romance in their adventure books??
I have to agree with a review I read on here earlier, finaly fantasy VII did get way too much attention. sure it was a good game, and the movie was decent, but lets face it, finaly fantasy VIII would make a way better movie than that did, and we're not even going to mention, spirits within, I HATED it...and I know this doesnt make sense to you who are reading this, but I was kinda upset that they did not put Rinoa in Kingdom Hearts right along with squall.
its kinda wierd I suppose, but every time (through both kingdom hearts by the way) we had a scenerio with squall or something, I just kept waiting for the reason he was so bruding was that we had to go resque the love of his life- rinoa. was anyone else expecting that??
Any FFVIII would make and excellent movie, or a second game, but NOT both, I think thats over doing it just a little. and hey Im not saying I didnt like VII, but theres only so much of Aerith being in the picture AFTER she died...I mean come on...she Died, just get with Tifa already...

Great Game!
Although my favorite Final Fantasy is 9(I also liked 10 a lot)...and I have yet to experience 7(I guess I'm beating them in the wrong order), despite what some people say, I still find this game to be very fun! Only drawback, I think, is the drawing magic feature. I find that it takes away from each characters individual uses. Overall though, it's a great game.

Best final fantasy
I really enjoyed this final fantasy. Although the graphics are old and fuzzy the story line is quite good. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys the final fantasy series!

Greatest Final Fantasy Game So Far
I have played FF Origins, FFIV-FFXIII. FFVIII is not only by far the best of them all, but it's also one of the best RPG games that I've played. I would only place Xenogears, Chrono Cross, and Chrono Trigger above FFVII. The people that complain about the Junction System and the card game are just simply morons that cannot deal with anything that has some complexity. FFVIII has by far the truest Omega Weapon of any FF game. That's a very challenging boss fight unlike the final battle with Sephiroth in FFVII. Obtaining 99% of any of the GFs in FFVIII is not an easy task. The bottom line is that this game is not tailored for the ones who rush in and out of games just to say that they finished it without actually enjoying it. I basically do not follow most of the so-called RPG experts that work for magazine. I buy the game and play it through. Then, I create my own oppinion. Besides FF, these are some of the RPG games I've played:

Tales of Destiny 1 & 2, Legend of Legaia, Tales of Symphonia, Tales of the Abyss, Wild Arms 1 & 2, Breath of Fire 1-4, Golden Sun 1 & 2 (great games), Parasite Eve 1 & 2, Valkyrie Profile and Valkyrie Profile Silmeria, Final Fantasy Tactics (strategy/RPG), Saiyuki Journey West, Front Mission 3 & 4, several Pokemon games, Suikoden III and V, Summoner 1 & 2, Paper Mario, Super Paper Mario, Xenosaga 1-3, Persona 2 & 3, 3 Digital Devils, Diablo II, Shadow Hearts 1-3, Legend of Dragoon, Oblivion IV, Mass Effect, Star Ocean Second Story and Till The End of Time, Dragon Quest VII and VIII, Fable, Morrowind, and many more.

I am an RPG junky and FFVIII is one the best out there!

Second best to only Final Fantasy X.
I was very surprised of how much I like the older Final Fantasy games. Final Fantasy VII was very disappointed to me. The Story seems very exciting as always. Characters are somewhat hard to level up since you can only use three in battle and you should keep them all at the same level.

It's very similair to Final Fantasy X in many ways. Blitzball in X is Triple Triad in VIII. Monsters are similiar, Story, Worldmap. The only difference I see is the Junction Vs. Nodes leveling up systems.

Overall. This game is only second best to Final Fantasy X. Excellent game, worthy of the name of Final Fantasy.
