Soul Calibur Review (continued)

Date: 2003-02-06 Can Soul Caliber ever be beaten? When I went out and bought a Dreamcast, it was because of this game and its already strong grip on me. I had played it four times before. Its that strong. The accurate portrayal of fighting styles with swords, staffs, and other assorted weapons makes the fighting on screen somthing of legend. Nothing is cooler than to pull off a Soul Caliber combo. Each fighter is vastly different from each other (except of course the charactors that are the same basically...yah). And learning everything the fighter of choice has to offer is a fun experience in and of itself. Any other fighting game I played I learned only enough to win against someone of fair skill. Soul Caliber made me want to be the best. Buy it and experience it. Or wait, don't buy a Dreamcast, and get Soul Caliber 2 when it comes out two years from now. If you can wait that long.
Date: 2003-01-11 Overrated pile of junk I can't understand why people like "Soul Calibur" so much. Yeah, it has nice graphics, but eye-candy can't save a game that is simply NOT FUN TO PLAY! There is no fighting strategy, no combos, no special attacks, no jumping, no nothing. You just have to press the same attack button on the right time again and again and again to win any fight. Of course, it gets very dull in a few minutes. If you think gameplay is more important than graphics, get "King of Fighters" (either "KOF Dream Match" or "KOF Evolution") or "Fatal Fury - Mark of the Wolves" instead.
Date: 2003-01-08 Soul Caliber This game was the best thing that came from the Dreamcast, aside from HOUSE OF THE DEAD. This was one of my main reasons for getting the Dreamcast. The graphics were awesome and the replay to this game was great. The second installment of the very popular Arcade smash Soul Blade, had much better graphics than the first, very fluid fights, new characters that rocked (and also a surprise cameo by Tekken's Yoshimitsu). Plus a lot of new weapons and fighting styles like a 3/4 staff, a sword with a chain attached to it, the Shaolin sword style and even some returing favorites like the short sword and Samurai sword. This game rocked! I still play this game eventhough the Dreamcast is more or less no more. This is a great game, if yuou have a Dreamcast, you need this game. It's almost a requirement!
Date: 2002-12-31 Still the Best Console Fighter Out!! I still play my dreamcast because of this game. It is better than any fighter out on ps2 or xbox and will remain the best until Soul Caliber 2 is released for gamcube, xbox, and ps2. It sports beautiful graphics and a fun fighting system, this is the game that makes me wonder why dreamcast isn't around i'm just glad the sequel is nearing its release. It remains the best console fighter.
Date: 2002-11-27 The DC's Superior Gem in the rough...GET IT NOWW! 3 Weeks ago, I finally began playing my copy of this splendid game on my newly brought dreamcast, and what I found was gameplay, visuals, sound, and controls that's all EXTREMELY worth dying for. Be warned though, most of the fighters in this game could take some really good mastering and practice(especially on the DC controller), but once you master their moves, this game becomes a thrill ride you'll never forget. What you saw in the original Namco System 12 arcade game wont compare to what you are going to experience at home with this version, and with allmost 20 characters to master, a BIG bag full of gameplay modes, a Mission Battle mode guarranteed to be challenging, and all 338 art cards to purchase for extra goodies that await you(wait until you witness the Metalliac Mode for the characters, you'll jaw will DROP IN SECONDS!!), the replay value in this game will skyrocket to astronomical levels!! Get your copy while you still can, because when they're gone(along with the remaining DC's left in stores), they're all gone!
