THIS GAME ROCKS!!!!
The best weapons artists gather in a extreemly realistic fighting game.
If you've played the arcade version of soul Caliber you get the basic concept; beat the crap outta people or get the crap beat outta you.

This game is kinda like Tekken, only with swords and knives and stuff.
I'm a big fan of all fighting games (Tekken's my favorite) so i couldn't pass up buying this one.
At first it seemed like you average brawler (stab a sword into some one, slit their throat) but after i got the hang of all the combos and specials, it totally changed. It went from button smashing fest to tactical dodges and blocks. Just the thought of parrying and attacking in a single swift movement makes it even more addicting.
The play control is spot on, running, ducking, dodging, blocking, stabbing, simply amazing.
Even if it is for the dreamcast that fact doesn't take the thrill away from the game.
Ifyou are like me and own a dreamcast but can't afford to buy a PS2 or
X Box for soul caliber 2, then don't pass this oportunity up. Soul Calber 1 is just as good.
Buy this game now!

Fighting game for all
I am a huge fighting game fan, but I've never liked the button mashing variety of fighting games.

Until now. Soul Calibur is a fun game that keeps me coming back for more. From powerful brutes like nightmare and asteroth to fast fighters like Sophitia and taki to everyone else in between, this game is one of my favorites.

It's simple enough to pick up for anyone. 1 button for horizantal strikes, 1 for vertical strikes, 1 for kicks and 1 for blocking. But the strength likes in it's combo system. Even a newbie can get some combos by mashing buttons, but someone who knows what thier doing can wipe the floor with all challengers.

In short, Best fighting game ever.

Great game that keeps your entertained for hours!
So I'm sure you've played fighting games before, well forget "Mortal Kombat", and "Tekken" because "Soul Calibur" is the new wave of fighting games. "Soul Calibur" isn't just a fighting game, it contains other great elements such as Misson battles in which you are given a mission by the game to complete. And in completing the mission you are given points to unlock items in the Art Gallery which contains drawings and artwork from the game (very interesting to look at might I add!). The game also allows you to unlock new characters as well as choose another look for your character. This game is very entertaining as it breaks the rules of fighting games. Because it isn't JUST a fighting game, there is so much more you can do. There also are other modes such as "Time Attack" and "Survival" that put you against the CPU in a race for time. The background music is wonderful, the graphics are ahead of their time, and its great to hear the characters speak in Japanese. Again, this is a superb game this is worth owning a Dreamcast for!

Best reason to buy a DC
Forget any other reason for buying a Dreamcast -- Soul Calibur remains as the sole good reason for spending the money. It's worth the money, it's worth the money, and it's worth your time to check it out. You may have some trouble grabbing a copy of Soul Calibur, because every Dreamcast owner probably purchased this at the counter when picking up their system. Soul Calibur is the ultimate in fighting games - sleek, graphically unparalleled, and deep - and ranks as the best fighting game out there. It's set apart from its competitors by the double knockout of a great look and solid game play. Based on last years hit arcade game, and a sequel to the smash PlayStation hit, Soul Blade, Soul Calibur pits ten fighters against each other in a standard two-out-of three battle for supremacy. But might doesn't always make for right in this game. Soul Calibur is unprecedented in its game balance, with large, impressive bulky fighters on the same ground as small, fast players. The ten starting fighters are just that - a starting lineup. Through game play and advancement you'll uncover many cameo fighters, like Yoshimitsu from Tekken, and Seung Mina and Hwang from Soul Blade. There are also mystery stages and costume changes to uncover. Soul Calibur also offers many new options that the arcade version couldn't. Battle Mode, Team Battle, and Survival modes all lend the game an enormous replay value, while the sometimes complicated move system is helped out by a very thorough Practice mode that explains every move and shows you how to execute them. Graphically, the game evolves past its arcade counterpart in every respect, with incredible detail and superior polygon counts. Soul Calibur on the Dreamcast is without a doubt the best looking fighting game ever, with nuances like muscle rippling, facial expressions of pain, fear, and anger, and caustic lighting effects that dazzle the eyes. The game also excels in the area of sound, achieving what other games only dream of - the perfect balance of music, voice, and sound effects. Clashing swords, primal yelling, and blood-pumping heroic themes course through the game, all meshing for the perfect sonic mix. Namco has retooled the fighting dynamics so that both button-mashers and serious students of ass-whupping can both benefit and prosper in the game. Although novices can easily beat the game on easier settings, the game definitely favors those who understand Soul Calibur's complexities, like dodging, vertical and 8-way run attacks, and stagger blocking. Someone who has mastered the arcade game will find the differences in the moves trifling, while every one else will scarcely notice. What are you waiting for? Sonic can wait, TrickStyle will still be pulling tricks next week, and NFL 2K has a millenium ahead of it. There's no excuse for you not to be enjoying the best fighting game this year, and possibly the best ever. Power Stone and the laughable Mortal Kombat Gold can't touch the soul of this fighter, but you can.

the soul still burns
This launch title for the DC proves to be one of the best fighting games EVER!

This arcade to DC port has many extra modes, including a Mission Mode, where you have to defeat characters with a certain strategy.

The graphics are the best to date on the DC, as far as I have seen anyhow, and you will be amazed no matter how many times you play it.

Good old Namco added in a bunch of secrets as well, including bonus levels, extra outfits, different weapons, metallic mode, and more! And of course, you have your selection of unlockable characters as well.

Have I mentioned the true to the move authentic martial arts? That's right, each character uses a different martial arts weapon style, and all of them are authentic (with the exception of 2 characters, which have created styles). Trust me, I have been in to martial arts all my life, and no one
does it better than Namco.

This game is also good family fun! Not many good games can be played by both a 5 year old and a 50 year old. This is one of those rare games. The cool thing is, if you played your grandma at this game, she just might win!

Everything in this game is just so fluid! I can't believe my eyes sometimes!

GO OUT AND BUY THIS GAME! Bottom line. You've heard enough. Just do it. Go ahead. You know you want to. Do it! Come on! See? I think your wallet is shifting a bit.
